Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Preview

In a nutshell:
Video games based on movies have never had a terrific track record but this looks like breaking the mould forever. Not only is the Peter Jackson himself involved; but so is the Michel Ancel, creator of video game classics such as Rayman. The results look extraordinary.

The lowdown:
You take on the roles of both Jack Driscoll and the mighty Kong. Being the big monkey is great, naturally, but the feeling of power is neatly turned on its head when you play as the considerably more vulnerable Jack. Overall, it's an intense, absorbing romp.

Most exciting moment:
Escaping down some white water rapids as a puny human, chased by two tyrannosaurs rex.

Since you ask:
Peter Jackson loved Michel Ancel's Beyond Good & Evil game so much that he asked him to make Kong.

The bottom line:
Potentially, the most cinematic video game ever made.
Harrison Dent

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice enough fun, but ridiculously short, 16 Dec 2005
I'll keep this short, because the game itself is VERY short - I finished it in around three hours.

The game is nicely presented, and plays smoothly. Most of the game is simple first-person "explore, solve and shoot" though it's not very taxing and the levels felt very short. There are other scenes where you get to play Kong himself third-person, beating up tyrannosaurs and giant millipedes. This was kind of interesting, tho somewhat limited from a fighting point of view, and again, not too difficult.

As movie adaptations go, this was quite well executed, but (as is often the case) the killer was the length. When Kong is captured and taken to New York, I figured I might have hit the halfway point of the game. But twenty minutes later I was done.

I liked this game, but I was bitterly disappointed with the length and can't especially recommend it for this reason alone.

1.0 out of 5 stars King kong, 10 April 2006

I owned this game for approximatly 3 days i completed it within 3 hours of the day i bought it was complete:( and was very dissapointed! It is the same old stuff all the way through even on the "exciting" king kong levels. Although i have to admit the graphics were very good.

    Not worth it!

    Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
King Kong on the PSP proves that the PSP is by far the best handheld console of them all both visually and atmospherically.
The sound is OK, however there are a few bugs that may seem annoying when starting playing but they will stop after a minute or so.
    Anyway to the review.

Graphics - 7/10 Not the best but still great.
Gameplay - 7/10 Very atmospheric and scary and good action.
Sound - 8/10 Some annoying bugs but they won't last long, other than them, fantastic.
Length - 5/10 Quite short but I'll definitely play it again.
Controls - 8/10 Easy enough to get used to.

So there you have it, my opinion on King Kong for the PSP.
Could of been better and a bit longer but this one's for keeps!
