This film is very remains funny without being over the top or ridiculous. It is rooted firmly in reality, in family arguments and relationships. It could almost be regarded as a black comedy, as portrayed brilliantly by Isabelle Huppert, and a slapstick style from Catherine Frot. Both actresses are sublime, and so too is the supporting cast.
This is only the 2nd film (and 1st feature length) by the French female director Alexandra Leclère, who both writes and directs her film. She really does look like a promising talent. Her next film stars Nathalie Baye, so the director is doing well to get such stars on board her films. They obviously also see the potential.
I would recommend this film to anyone, it is very funny and moving, and with the leads being Frot and Huppert, you know you are in for a treat, they never let you down with their performances.
The film is the french version of the DVD, but has english subtitles in white for the main feature. The DVD also has extras like video diaries, however these only have french subs.
