5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic DMC-FZ5B Digital Camera, 21 Sep 2005
By Carl Cresswell (Macclesfield, Cheshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Anyone who has used a digicam before will have no problem picking this camera up & taking pictures. This is my second. I've had mine a week & haven't opened the manual yet. Simple to use, fantastic photos & the 12x zoom is fabulous. The image stabiliser makes all the difference. I was thinking about getting a digital SLR but when I saw this camera, read a few reviews on-line & saw what it could do then it wasn't difficult to choose. OK, you don't have all the options that a professional would require but a 12x zoom, 5 megapixels & light are real advantages. The battery life is impressive but you have to get a specialised battery. No more AA's to power this camera but if you look round then you can get generic batteries for a tenner. The 16MB SD card provided holds 5-6 photos at high resolution, so I would suggest getting at least a 256MB (£15 on-line). No bulky holdalls with numerous lenses. It has the look & feel of an SLR without the price tag

5.0 out of 5 stars Practically perfect, 26 Jan 2006
By A Customer
Had been agonising about moving up from an older compact digital camera to a digital SLR, particularly Canon EOS 350d. Then I saw this little gem, which I knew would do everything I needed in a remarkably compact body.

Picture quality is superb, probably due to the high quality Leica lens and undoubtedly helped by a remarkably unobtrusive but effective image stabilisation system that virtually eliminates camera shake.

Used on all sorts of pictures, from family shots to landscapes and even night time pictures and so far everything has come up clear, sharp and true.

Cannot fault the camera in any respect so far - and so much more usable than an SLR!

Superb.

4.0 out of 5 stars panasonic dmc-fz5b - from pixmania, 15 Jan 2006
By A Customer
Was somewhat disappointed when I recieved this camera from this seller as the charger received came with a 2 pin mains lead with a 3 pin adapter - plus the instructions in Italian, French, Dutch German, but not English. Clearly this item was not intended for the UK market.

However - I downloaded instructions from the Panasonic Website, and the mains lead adapter worked - so eventually I got going. This camera is brilliant! Lightweight and easy to use in point and shoot mode, with built in advice on shutter speeds and appeture, should I choose to use the camera in manual mode. Clarity of pictures is excellent. It is a delight - it is a shame the seller did not make it clear in the advert that English instructions were not included as it would have been embarassing to give this as a gift - I chose to buy from the Amazon site as they are reputable - so am slightly disappointed by this.
