5.0 out of 5 stars If you have passion for motorsport, this game is perfect, 11 Jun 2006

(REAL NAME)
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Toca Race Driver 3 has it all. There are so many different types of racing you can do, like Classics, GT, Oval Racing, Touring car, Off-road and others. Some championships have been worked on more than others like the British GT, DTM, V8 Supercar and Indy Car featuring nearly all fully licensed cars and drivers. This makes the game more authentic; racing against some of the best drivers in the world in a simulator game is awesome. You have the choice of World Tour, where you cross the world choosing different championships getting more professional and competitive as you go along. There is Pro Tour where you pick a certain type of series of racing like Touring Car. So you start in Renault Clio's and build your way up to DTM and end with a world tour of V8 Supercar. Then Free Race where you pick from the cars and tracks you have unlocked and make your own race picking how many laps, if you pit or not etc. The best thing about this game is how you can race in such a huge variety learning to race like a pro using the racing line, pit tactics, car tuning etc and overtaking the opposition in real ways like out braking and using the slipstream. The work of a racing sim has never been so accurate and you actually feel like a racing driver. The attention to detail is amazing on the cars; the damage as always on a Codemasters game is really good. Cars crumble and smash like Carbon Fibre or Metal should and the car experiences problems like overheating engines and gear box problems. The graphics are fantastic like the driver moving inside the car and roll cage is modelled like the real ones and the look of every car doesn't differ from the real. The sounds have been worked on more than previous Toca's as the power of V8 in the V8 Supercars blasts you away. Overall this game is the best yet of any racing game, which is easy to pick up and gets harder as your skill increases. A must by for any motorsport fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've played the full version!!!, 18 Feb 2006
By A Customer
This game is going to keep me glued to my Xbox for months!

TOCA 2 was great, but this is even better. The cars feel great to drive, the damage looks good and there is sooooo much content. I even had a go on the Pro-Sim handling, something that I would not normally do, and though it was harder it was still fun and really rewarding when you get it right.

Codemasters have paid so much attention to detail in this game. The Williams F1 car sounds just like the real thing and is (obviously) really fast. The Oval racing is a definite improvement on Toca 2 and the rally stages are infinitely better (I was a little disappointed with them last time).

I can't wait to get my copy on the 24th. See you all online.

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh Dear What Happened?, 16 May 2006

Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
I waited for this to come out, waited with bated breath and sweaty palms, sure it would be fantastic. It isn't.
I bought myself a Fanatec Speedtser 3 Force Shock steering wheel which transformed my copy of Forza and TOCA 2 into near-realistic experiences. Driving a V8 super car round Bathurst circuit in TOCA 2 was brilliant, thrashing a 911 GT2 round the old Nurburgring in Forza was breathtaking so I was looking forward to experiencing the likes of classic Grand Prix cars and more with TOCA 3. I shoved the disc into my X-box, plugged in my steering wheel and...and what? Well I could drive the cars, I could get round the circuits, I could win races but, you know, it just felt wrong. Like when you're driving your real car and something just feels different and bad, you get out, check the wheels and sure enough, one tyre's flat. Get it fixed and your happy again. Problem with TOCA 3 is you can't fix it.
I've been trying hard to get into it, telling myself it's just me and I'm not used to the new game yet. I kept telling myself this until I put my copy of Forza back into the X-box for comparison. What a difference - proper handling and authentic engine noises again. Next, in with TOCA 2. Was it just me? Would TOCA 2 feel the same as TOCA 3? Should I stop fooling myself that there's a problem with TOCA 3? The old version goes in, press start and... ah - much better!
It is the new game that's at fault, not me! It's as if they've modelled the handling on a cross channel hover craft and sampled the engine sounds from a flatulant old granny. In TOCA 2, when you come to a corner and change down a gear, the engine revs - as if the clutch has been pushed in and the gas has been stepped on - a nice "varrroom" sound. What have they done in TOCA 3? You get a wimpy sounding fart noise as if the engine's being reved without the clutch being depressed and infact the only thing being depressed is me.The cars don't feel connected to the track and they turn on a weird axis.
Seemingly, a lot of people think TOCA 3 is great. In my opinion it isn't and if you don't have Forza motor sport and you're thinking of buying TOCA 3, think again.
Oh well,if I want something new to enjoy my excellent steering wheel with I'll just have to wait for Forza 2 and try to forget that just one week ago I forked out the money for TOCA 3.
