Product Description

CD Description

This is the self-titled debut release from Glasgow based five piece outfit El Presidente. The album sees the band take elements of pop, glam rock, disco and P-funk - while drawinginspiration from artists such as Led Zeppelin, The Bee Gees, Parliament and Prince - creating a sound that is already being likened to the hugely successful Scissor Sisters. Also included are the singles '100mph', 'Without You' and 'Rocket'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funk/Dance/Rock/Pop- -What More Do You Want???, 13 Feb 2006
The awsome El presidente have made an album of the most catchy, vibrant, funky and fun songs EVER!! From the opening drum roll of Without You, to the final few funky riffs of Come On Now, the album twirls, spins and rolls through funk and pop. It takes elements of Prince, beach boys, t-rex and other glam artists, blends them with soring meledies. !!!BUT BEWARE!!!!!! one you pick this up, you wont be able to put it down!!

!!!!VIVA EL PRES!DENTE!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Promosing, 24 Jan 2006
By andrew (Kelso, Scotland) - See all my reviews
Now, some people have accused el presidente of ripping off the scissor sisters. This is suprising as the lead singer, the extravagant Dante Gizzi, admitted these songs have been going around since he wrote them around 2002-2003. Strang then that he would choose to take from a band with no fame and i doubt anyone in scotland had heard. No this was an original idea but it the scissor sisters were probably a factor in picking up a record label. The album opens with an inpsired trio of glam funk rock, which only a real grump wouldn't dance to and ends with some darker, but no less effective tracks. The only gripe here is that the album was recorded in Dante's home ona an archive sampler so moat tracks only have very simple three chord guitar riffs, and he recorded it before he formed the band, as a result the live performances are completely different but absolutly breathetaking wih plenty guitar improvising and powerful vocals. So unfortunatly the album pales in comparison. I await a more focused and more technically impressive second album

3.0 out of 5 stars El Presidente, 12 Nov 2005
The Self titled debut album from El Presidente fuses glam rock, pop, funk and electro grooves together to produce an energetic and fresh concoction of catchy lyrics, and harmonies. High pitched vocals and addictive simple choruses seem to be the main elements in making such a lively, feel-good album. With fans like Liam Gallagher and Duran Duran, El Presidente are set to be big news. Think of a 2005 Glaswegian Scissors Sisters and you are halfway there. Stand out tracks include ‘Without You’, ‘100mph’, ‘Rocket’ and the somewhat darker song ‘Come on now’.
The lyrics can seem slightly meaningless and sometimes annoyingly catchy, but if you are after an upbeat, stomping, frisky pop- rock vibe, then look no further.
