5.0 out of 5 stars Punk and loving it, 30 Sep 2005

Praised and mocked by NME, loved and hated by musos, Test Icicles short rise-and-fall was the most eye-popping thing in 2005. With influences from grindcore to electropop and Fall Out Boy, their music was a messy oddity with enough enthusiasm to make it all magical. A track the band despise yet the fans adore. Test Icicles were genius!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bonkers music from bonkers people, 17 Aug 2005
First things first, this band have THE best name ever. But the music is the craziest thing about this band. Its pretty much like a cross between At The Drive-In and Refused. At least thats how I see it. Vocal duties and instruments are passed around the band on a rota apparently and so what you get is a blisteringly fast mesh of styles with little melody and a vague chorus. Still it somehow works and it certainly is different. If you get a chance to see them live i throughly recommend it as its predictably crazy. I'm now waiting for the album!

3.0 out of 5 stars 2 tracks of fun..., 30 Jul 2005

Ok. Who in their right mind names their band Test-icicles? I mean, really, how childish is that?! Not that I mind of course, but anyway thats just the name. And This is certinly one of the more refreshing new bands around at the moment. Walls of fast guitars with not much melody to them are backed by some pretty good drumming and the odd cheesy jangly organ bits. And its kinda fun, I honestly cant see anything wrong with this little cd at all.

Both songs are short, loud and very energetic. And I am on my fourth consecutive listen now... which should mean something, and it does.. but what, im not sure. I know im going to get easily bored of this... and the name of the band is going to loose its comedy value pretty soon, but for now... hehe...
