Product Description

From the Label
After over a year away, Craig is now set to return with his most intimate record yet. Recorded chiefly with long-time collaborator Mark Hill, the pair got back to basics and refocused their attention on killer melodies and striking lyrics. Craig admits, "Our approach with this album has been like the first one in a lot of respects, there was such a long period of time between albums, it felt really natural. With Mark and I the production is just the icing on the cake. A lot of people put so much effort into their production but there’s no real song there. I try to stay away from that. I have really taken a lot of time to make sure the songs are at the forefront".

The result is a startlingly honest, soulful record where Craig’s personality and experiences take centre stage. In taking time out from his career, he has rediscovered what moves him, what makes him get on the dance floor and what has shaped the person he is now and all that is translated into a powerfully emotive album, fittingly titled The Story Goes... With the focus firmly on his smoothly striking vocals, lyrics about love, life and nights out partying are truly a reflection of the last two years of Craig’s life and the man behind the hits and headlines. With production by Mark Hill, The Underdogs and Rick Nowels, The Story Goes... moves seamlessly from the lovelorn pleas of "My Love Don’t Stop" and "Separate Ways" to the gently affecting "Johnny", where Craig explores the difficult issue of bullying. "It all fell into place for me writing about it and I knew it was something I could talk about because I experienced a form of it at school. You feel like you’re in a black hole when it’s happening and you don’t know what to do and that’s what I was trying to capture. It’s a massive issue and I don’t have the answer to it but I wanted to highlight it, it’s a type of exorcism for me".

Other songs were inspired by more recent events. The slick disco beats of "All The Way", the crunky "Just Chillin", the high-energy of "Hypnotic" and the slow and seductive sexuality of ‘Take ‘Em Off’ were all a consequence of Craig’s nights out partying, knowing that--for the first time in years--he didn’t have to get up and work in the morning. The Story Goes… is an honest journey through Craig’s life. People that have touched and inspired him, to the ones he has lost with great sadness, such as with the stunning ballad "Let Her Go", which is dedicated to his Mum, and the beautiful "Don’t Love You No More (I’m Sorry)"--a mesmerizing tale of lost love and broken hearts, based on Craig’s real-life relationship breakdown. "Every album is a chapter in my life but this one really captures the essence of me. I’m not trying to prove anything to people or make anyone happy, I just feel like I can let loose, step up a gear and say check this. Just when you were wondering what was going on, listen to this for a minute. This is me". The Story Goes… is dedicated to Craig’s Grandmother who passed away at the end of last year.

CD Description
Third album, following 2002's 'Slicker Than Your Average', from Southampton RnB star. From his debut as a fresh faced 18 year old - with the UK garage smash 'Fill Me In' in 2000 -up to the release of 'The Story Goes...', David has sold 13m records worldwide. Working with his long term collaboratorMark Hill, he has produced his most soulful and honest record to date, filled with contemporary grooves but never allowing the production to overshadow the songs. Includes the singles 'All The Way' and 'I'm Sorry'.

5.0 out of 5 stars What else can be said?!, 3 Sep 2005

This is simple an excellent comeback album, I cannot get enough of it, I listen to it a few times a day. The songs are very catchy but not repetatively boring. I guarantee that if you liked his previous stuff then you will definitely love this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another one, 20 Aug 2005

I wanna start but saying; wow. Craig has done it yet again, this has to be his strongest album, beautifully written (by craig and friends) and sung magnificently with his rich voice that i personally adore listening to, gives me those happy little goosebumps, but hey maybe that's just me!

Many of the songs are very relaxed and chilled, perfect for winding down and chilling out to, especially in the summer evenings. The few upbeat songs on the album are fantastic for a boogie and you can't help but tap your foot to.

Overall, a gorgeous album in my opinion and well worth a listen, you'll be hooked, trust me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive, 20 Aug 2005
By thejoneseys (Somewhere out there, in the vast nothingness of space) - See all my reviews
I'm quite lucky to have got my hands on this album ahead of the release date (and thus I've listened to it a fair few times already).

It's a typical Craig David album, the more you listen to it, the more you love it. I don't think theres a bad track on it and it's definatly a worthy purchase for all fans. If you've enjoyed previous Craig David albums, you really should get this to put beside his other two.

This cd is enjoyable wherever you listen to it. Its great in the car and when you're entertaining friends at home. It certainly gives you a feel good factor when listening to it.

My favourite tracks are:
-All the way
-Unbelievable
-Take em' off

Buy it!
