This is album is utterly amazing and in a perfect world would be heard by all. Sounding Out the City is all about cool slices of laid-back melodic funk. El Michel's never go crazy with the bass it's all about neat little percussive loops that really crawl under the skin.
It's all so consistent but I really love the rhythm of tracks like "Behind the Blue Curtains," and "This song is for you." "Slide Show" is simple but frighteningly cool.
This is leftfield funk, occupying a niche all of it's own. Just buy it. Now!
