I have made use of the JE8 for a few months now, and would love to offer the advice I needed whilst I was browsing.

BUILD

As stated by others, this is a big juicer (500mm x 500mm x 250mm). The build is solid, sturdy and the JE8 does not flinch when the motor is at full power. There are 2 power settings (only needed to use LOW so far) and obviously there is some noise, but accept the fact that this 850W beast isn't going to be silent. However this has been considered, as the JE8 is mounted on 4 rubber suspension feet which act to stabilise and to reduce vibration.

The JE8 has no fiddly components. All 8 parts slot easily and quickly together. As a safety aspect, it cannot be operated unless the locking bar is in place.

Also, hold off on buying a recipe book, as one is supplied.

CLEANING

Once used, it can be dismantled in seconds (seriously), and cleaned within five minutes (honestly) using the brush that is also supplied. Every part that is exposed to juice can be accessed. There are no nooks and crannies where pulp or juice can hide. It's either in the juice jug or the pulp bin. Also, there are no seals to wear out either. All components are interlocking so do not expect any leaks.

Although everything except the motor is dishwasher safe, I prefer to clean it by hand whilst it is still wet (read on to find out why).

PRACTICALITY

Yes, the chute really is big enough to take whole apples and quite large oranges if peeled.

From 6kg of oranges you can expect 1.2kg of peel, 900g of pulp, and 3.9kg of juice. That's over 3 litres. Be careful not to overfill the juice jug by emptying it every 0.9 of a litre. So start looking for decent-sized fridge storage bottles that are also easy to clean (no thin necks).

Some owners suggest that the pulp is not quite dry, or that they do not get enough juice first time and they feed the pulp through again. Don't bother. At best you may extract another spoonful.

No juicer will extract juice from starchy fruits (bananas etc) so do not expect the JE8 to perform miracles.

IMPORTANT

The component that dictates the juice/pulp ratio is the stainless steel mesh filter basket (see product description). The mesh is very fine (but strong), and must be kept spotlessly clean (remember, it only takes five minutes).

If the mesh becomes clogged with dried material then the juice cannot be extracted and the pulp will be wet. If the mesh is kept clean then the pulp will be at worst, damp. It's that simple. If the mesh had larger holes, then the juice would contain fruit flesh or peel. If you want the pulp any drier then you are going to have to buy an industrial-type extractor.

CONCLUSION

Looks macho.
Sounds rugged.
Childs-play to assemble and dismantle (honest).
Pumps out a decent amount of juice (without buying an industrial machine).
Includes recipe book.
Good price (do not go cheaper, you'll regret it).

Stop wasting your time browsing.

This is the third juicer I have owned, and the best in my opinion; there is nothing better than a glass of fresh fruit and veg juice for breakfast, it sees you right through til lunch. This juicer is great and so easy to clean (tip - put a plastic bag in pulp catcher then all you need to do is lift it out, no mess, easy!).

The best thing is the wide chute you can put whole apples in and make juice in double quick time. Also the motor is very powerful which ensures that all the juice is extracted (pulp is nice and dry).

Top juicer, highly recommended!
