Two of Wales’ leading international opera superstars united to record this unique collection of duets. Bryn Terfel and Rhys Meirion join forces to be the first artists ever to record at Galeri, the new creative enterprise centre in Caernarfon, North Wales. The album comprises duets chosen by Bryn and Rhys from Welsh and English favourites to new compositions by established Welsh composers. Acclaimed harpist Catrin Finch, renowned string quartet Celticana and Welsh pianist Annette Bryn Parry provide accompaniment to this exciting musical combination.

This is a spiritually uplifting piece of work, from the beautifully sung opening title track through to the hauntingly moving close of Psalm 23 which is sung in Welsh as are most of the songs. Anybody who understands Welsh will have the bonus of appreciating the emotion of the lyrics used such as "Y Border Bach" about a mother's loving devotion to her garden, but I would be surprised if those that don't will not be just as moved by the passion of the singing to the evocative musical accompaniment. Conveniently there are English translations to the Welsh words within the CD cover. While each track sung is uniquely beautiful, my four favourites would have to include the two English tracks, namely "Eli Jenkins Prayer" and the stirring rendition of "Perhaps Love", which is likely to move even the most unemotional listener. Two fine voices singing a compilation of well chosen spiritual and love songs make this a must for everyone who loves beautiful music.

Bryn Terfel has one of the most wonderful voices I have ever heard- the power, the clarity, and the emotion of his voice are always impressive. In Rhys Meirion, who I have to admit I have never heard of until now, he has found a most able duet partner. Their voices blend perfectly and the emotional intensity of the songs is reflected in both of their powerful voices. I very much admire the fact that though Bryn Terfel is an internationally renowned opera star, he remains openly devoted to his Welsh heritage and its music--a genuine love for Wales and pride it its culture shines through this albe. Highly recommended.
