Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Preview
For the majority of football loving video games fans the most important event in the gaming calendar is the release of a new Pro Evolution Soccer game.

Only a few screenshots have so far been seen of the game, but it looks astonishing even by PSP standards, with highly realistic graphics that almost look better than the PS2 version. A wireless multiplayer is already guaranteed (although for how many people is still unclear), which together with the reliability of the Pro Evolution Soccer name is almost all committed fans will need to know.

The game is expected to include many of the new features from the latest home console versions, including the introduction of wingbacks and more realistic weather conditions. One feature that is definitely confirmed for the PSP is the Master League that allows you to take on a player manager role. Indeed, series creator Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka has suggested that the Master League may be expanded to such a degree that it will become almost a mini version of Championship Manager -- so that you’ll be quite happy just playing that on the move and the actual matches when you get home.

Whatever the exact features of the game, there seems little chance that this won’t immediately become the definitive portable football simulation when it is finally released. -- Harrison Dent

5.0 out of 5 stars Pro Evo 5 PSP 1-0 Fifa 06 PSP, 26 Nov 2005
By G. Riley - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I currently own both Pro Evo 5 and Fifa 06 for PSP, when i had my PS2 i was a Fifa fan and i never bought pro evo, but now i have played both i can see that on the PSP pro evo 5 is far better than fifa 06 PSP.

The gameplay is excellent far better than fifa, the only problem is the lack of liscenced teams but soon you will be able to buy a update (eBay) that changes all the names to their real ones e.g. Merseyside Red will turn to Liverpool. Another thing is it does not have commentary, but to be honest this is good because the commentary has always been poor on pro evo.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK but not what I was expecting, 11 May 2006

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
Slightly gutted. I love Pro Evolution on the PS2 and have every version. It is the best footy game, full stop. PSP version however falls short for me. Graphics are great, realism is great but the reason I buy Pro Evo is for those things + the challenge of Master League. There is no Master League. Working your way up from a not-so-good team to the top of the tree takes a long time and is a fantastic challenge. I also can't find a 'wide view' which has severly limited my ability to score goals! You are treated to very little view of the pitch and this is really annoying. I bought this game because I thought I was getting Pro Evo 5 for PSP, not a mickey mouse version of it. Probably my fault for not reading any reviews beforehand and relying on brand and product intergrity. I won't be making the same mistake again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly The Best Game Ever, 29 Nov 2005
WOW, I have been waiting for this game for a long, long time. The PES5 designers have all but nailed it this time. Finally they have slowed down the gameplay to reflect the true speed/nature of football, PES4 master league became ridiculously easy (even on level6) when you had pacy front players but now it has all changed. To be honest the change of speed will throw you at the start but be patient, just like real life, practice makes perfect.

No longer will the computer controlled Thierry Henry just run straight past you, why? i hear you ask, well due to the brillance of the said designers your defenders can now actually defend. John Terry will now prod the ball away without actually having to slid tackle or if that doesn't work he'll just use his strength and bully Henry off the ball. Master stroke. Distribution from your goalkeeper has also been improved with the overarm throw, which can allow him to throw the ball to your nearest midfielder instead of either rolling it to your tall awkward centre-half or booting it to your tiny forwards. It is now easier to score from free-kicks. Caution: Do not conceed free-kicks around your box, as someone has now taught the computer how to score them too. I once conceeded three in one damn match.

Another side to the game is the injuries players receive during games, players can pick up injuries during the game, from a tackle for instance, and he'll carry on playing until the injury is too much for him and then he'll start hobbling or if a player is injured during a fair tackle an act of fair play is called for, i.e. kick the ball out so he can get treatment.

I have only listed a few of the many details you get in the game but i am in no doubt that when you play this game you will get the same buzz of excitement I do. Some People find the game hard to play, this is a new game, therefore things you did in PES4 will not always work the same, so fresh start everyone. When you are luck enough to score a Goal, no-one and i mean no-one will begrudge you a lap of honour of your bedroom, i certainly do. Good Luck.
