3.0 out of 5 stars A CROWER, 19 Aug 2005
THE REDWALLS De Nova
Capitol Records. 13 tracks.
Anybody, like myself, impatiently awaiting a new Black Crowes studio release, could do a lot worse than checking out The Redwalls (who came to my attention from the recent Oasis stadium shows). Clearly taking reference from the same "good" 60s/70s British Blues bands (and combining these influences with some incessantly catchy pop songs) as the Crowes, "De Nova" is the type of derivative Rock/Blues music you hear so often today but hear very rarely done so well. I can certainly understand why Noel Gallagher has been raving about them (they do have a similar sound to his own labels first, and only, signings Proud Mary) and there is definitely a Sgt Peppers-Beatles influence running throughout the collection, particularly apparent on 'Thank You' which manages to rip off, at least, 5 bands in just over 4 minutes and still sound completely fresh - Noel would be proud! (and will surely be under the influence when recording commences on the next Oasis album). Now if they could just drop the Stokes image and grow a few beards and they'd be sorted. This could be the band to watch over the next 12 months... CD:UK here they come!

4.0 out of 5 stars I hope they hit the big time....., 26 Jul 2005
...cause with this album they deserve to be heard by a wider audience.

I knew they were supporting Oasis so i made an effort to check out their website and listen to samples of their songs and i immediately got into their music (the song Thank You instantly hit me as a great song).

At times they sound like the Fab 4 from liverpool (Front Page is the best example) its almost like your hearing new beatles songs for the first time.

I then saw them support oasis in manchester and they were a big hit with the crowd, they gave off so much energy, looked to be having the time of their lives and the music came across really well.

I have already recommended this album to mates and they have gathered quite a following from all oasis fans who have witnessed them live this summer.

Please check it out!!

Stand out tracks: Thank You, Build A Bridge, Back Together, Falling Down, Front Page

4.0 out of 5 stars Fancy some Beatles meets Dylan meets Bowie?, 6 Jul 2005
By F. Power "fwp8000" (Liverpool) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Like other people who've discovered this band (supporting Oasis 05 tour) I couldnt help but be bowled over by their on-stage charm and sound (the ghost of Epstein is still alive?.) For a minute I'd been transported back to the Cavern in '62 and was getting that general feeling of " This band makes me feel good".
So much so, that i had to buy this album the very next day and then made a point of seeing them again that very night in the Barfly- Liverpool. Quite simply, if you like the above artists you'll like this album. Theres no angst and despair, no secret meanings of life and the cosmos- just very good harmony driven melodies and catchy riffs that will guarantee to lift your spirits ( isnt that what good music should be??). This band supported Oasis, when I seen them the next night members of The Zutons and The Stands were in the audience and not one of these Chigago based boys are over the age of 22 yet. Says something don't you think?.
Buy this album, along with the Magic Numbers, and give yourself something to remember 2005 by. You wont be dissapointed.
