Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

This is the most playable scrolling platform game ever. Imagine Super Mario - with better graphics; imagine Sonic the Hedgehog - with more puzzles. Now imagine combining those together and you'll have some idea how much fun it is to play JAMES POND II Codename: Operation ROBOCOD.

Your mission is to stop the evil doctor's plans of total world domination; your only chance lies in the capable fins of the aquatic super hero, James Pond. Our finned hero jumps, climbs, squashes, squishes and stretches through level after level of some of the best cartoon-style graphics ever seen. As you battle your way ever deeper into this bizarre world you'll encounter Bouncing Teddy Bears, Crazy Cadillacs, Whirling Dervishes, Chocolate Mountains and don't forget those wacky end of level baddies - and a cute, totally addictive background soundtrack you'll be whistling for ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Game!, 4 Aug 2006
By Stephen Moss "arden01" (Warrington, Cheshire) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This is the classic game which was origially released back in the early 1990's on the trusty Sega Mega Drive console. This game, titled James Pond: Operation Robocod (the Sega title was James Pond 2) is by far the best of the James Pond games.

You control a half man/half fish character who must stop the evil Doctor from blowing up Toyland at Christmas time. As James Pond, you must go through a series of doors, solve various puzzles along the way and jump on the baddies to kill them.

Each level is basically about jumping from platform to platform, pretty much like the good old days of the platforming genre, bringing back fond memories of the Sonic and Mario games from the same era.

The missions themselves are pretty tough going and each mission gets progressively harder to beat. Some missions feature encounters with bosses scattered throughout the game which James Pond must beat in order to progress further. The bosses are fairly straight forward to beat, but as with the missions, get progressively harder as you near the end.

The graphics are superb. I haven't actually seen this Playstation 2 version yet, but the graphics on the Sega Mega Drive were fantastic, so any improvement where the graphics are concerened will be a bonus.

The music is truely amazing in this game. Most retro gamers will remember the theme tune to this game and the in game music as well is superb.

All in all, this game is such a great game to play. If you like playing the old games, this one is for you. Classic games don't come much better than this one.

So go on, treat yourself. For £8.99 you can't go wrong and I promise you'll be playing this for hours.

2.0 out of 5 stars 90s game repackaged, 20 Jan 2008
By Lucy Lu (Germany) - See all my reviews
Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This is a throwback game from the 90s, and along the lines of (what I remember) supermario etc being like. My 7 year old bought it but was disappointed, but today's youth don't value nostalgia as much as us, and actually are perhaps a bit more objective. Overall rather disappointing; the graphics are lame.
