5.0 out of 5 stars Will and Grace season 6, 17 Aug 2005
By Lee B. J. Harris "janetfanatic" (Aylesbury, uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Perhaps the most interesting season around on DVD so far, Grace is missing for some of the episodes due to having her baby in real life, but despite that the storylines never seem to lose the touch. After watching it all i can see that i gasped at some of the shocks that happened. Leo cheating on Grace, Karen getting married and then at the reception asking for a divorce!, and jack training to be a nurse and graduates! It was all happening! This may not be the best season so far excluding season 7 coz havent seen it yet. But it still comes second to season 5. Great guest stars , funny jokes and touching moments. All that makes this show so great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Is this a gay sitcom or not?, 19 Aug 2005
By O. Lehmann "TommyBln" (Berlin) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I'm a big fan of Will & Grace since the beginning. It was the well designed characters and the witty and funny lines that caught my attention. Apart from the great cast I always thought the authors should have recieved the most credit for creating and writing such a good show for american television.
But after five good seasons I have the feeling they're running out of ideas. And... they don't show any courage at all. Let's face it: Me being a gay man myself, I expect a little bit more from a gay sitcom than this. I know... it's just a sitcom. You'll say: A sitcom shoud be funny, not educational or showing real people with real problems. And I say: You're right. But, a sitcom shouldn't lie about the truth either.

For example:
In so many episodes we see the woman kiss each other. But when it comes to the men... nothing. Yes, there was this one episode where Will kissed Jack in front of a camera to prove to the american people... what? ... That we are real? That gay people really excist? And they have feelings too??? That's ok. But that was in ONE show. After that... nothing!
Have you ever noticed on these rare episodes when Will has a boyfriend and they meet after a hard day of work, that they just hug and kiss each other on the cheek? In season six Jack has a boyfriend and after an argument the make up and hug each other in a way to straight men would do. So, that must be love amongst gay people! That's what I was doing wrong these whole years!
Don't get me wrong. I don't say that every episode should show intimacy and lot's of french kisses between two men. But if you do it, do it RIGHT. Don't let stupid people and narrow minded, conservative a..holes think that we don't have real feelings. It sounds shallow, but we have the same emotions than everybody else.
I think you can do this in a sitcom: Be funny and be real!

About Season Six
(Before I'm being accused of being bitter about only one subject in the show!)
The writing of the episodes is not so good any more as it used to be. They bought so many Stars that you get the feeling this is the only way to keep the show running. John Cleese, Candice Bergen and Minnie Driver had the best lines. Although I must admit that JLo was also very funny. Sad that Tim Curry didn't have more to do, but his performance was great.
The stories are still the same. Will has problems getting a boyfriend, Karen has problems keeping her husband, Karen and Jack... well... they are still the same.
Best episode is definitely the second one: Last Ex to Brooklyn. The whole show is just one big funny dialog that could go on forever. You just pee in your pants!!! Mira Sorvino... fabulous!

Two things that make me very sad.
First: Why did they try to hide that Debrah Messing was pregnant? There were a few remarks about it, but they could have written so much more funny stuff about it. It was pathetic how they tried to hide her pregnancy with black wide clothes! This is not a soap from the eighties.

Second:
No Outtakes!!! I don't want to even start to comment on that.

So, let's wait for season seven and hope that it will get better!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Series, 9 Jan 2006
By Jack (England) - See all my reviews
Ah, series 6. Probably the most talked about season. This was the season with the huge debate whether or not to grant the show a 7th year, the year the writing supposedly dropped in quality, and the year the ratings dropped quite a large amount. Despite all of above, I truly think season 6 boasts some of the funniest episodes in Will & Grace history such as: Last Ex To Brooklyn, Strangers With Candice and East Side Story. Other good episodes include: Dames At Sea, Me and Mr. Jones, Swimming From Cambodia, Nice in White Satin and Flip Flop parts 1 & 2. This was a very controversial season but seems to be covered with humour. Also, the DVD release itself isn't very good, no bonus features (bloopers, invterviews etc.) Overall, I think it is a good season, better than the fifth and on par with the fourth, I don't W&G will ever stand out again like it did in season 3. Hopefully in the future the series will retain it's humour and clever writing.
