4.0 out of 5 stars Motorhead finally up to date!, 30 Aug 2006
Firstly, if you are a Motorhead fan, this is the best DVD they have ever made. Sound quality is excellent which is quite an achievement baring in mind the volume they play at. Picture quality and lighting are first class. Superb modern DVD quality. Secondly, the complaints about it being 'cut to death' or heavily edited to the point of being 'unwatchable' isnt a true refelction. The visuals fit the music, fast edit for fast songs. But it certainly isnt so fast you cant watch it. If you remember how Motorheads appearence was shot on the Young Ones in 1983/4 its as fast, exciting and influencial as that.

It does have an MTV feel about it, plus there are a few 'Matrix' like special effects. The crew involved used a 3 million Watt light rig, especially for this DVD. Motorheads normal rig is a mere 20,000 Watts. It works superbly. Job done. Just dont watch 'Overkill' in the dark due to fierce strobe effects!

But as Lemmy said in the commentary, the music speaks for itself - and the new tracks 'Killers','In The Name Of Tragedy' and 'Sacrifice' are modern, fast, furious and skillfully arranged. A definite new direction for Motorhead and a one that works so well it put some of the older classics in the shade.

Its excellent value - you get 2 DVDs - one for the concert with honest amusing commentary option, and the other with interviews, road crew, fans, a 'making of' and also an L.A. Special where the likes of Dave Grohl appear backstage to pay tribute to the legendary status of Lemmy.

I thoroughly enjoyed it surprised me, as I have seen so much poor quality output over the years, through no fault of the band. This genuinely captures the essence of a good live Motorhead show, together with high quality sound and video,
professionally produced throughout. Its Motorhead firmly in the digital age, finally!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best live sound ever for Motorhead, 20 Jul 2006
By Mr. K. Mitchell "madmitch76" (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've been following this lot since 'Overkill'. Their ferocious live shows have always suffered badly on the official releases due to poor reproduced sound. Tinny like 'No Sleep..', poorly mixed like 'Boneshaker' or distorted like 'Everything Louder...' etc.

Here the sound is pristine, for the first time ever you can hear every thundering bass chord and note from Lemmys custom Rickenbacker revealing what an underated and totally unique bass player he is. The mix is spacious and clear.

The band are super tight and up for it. New songs like 'In The Name of Tragedy' and 'Killers' prove their pedigree and relevance in the 30th anniversary year. These sit alongside excellent renditions of old and mid-season classics like 'Metropolis', 'Going to Brazil', 'RAMONES' etc whilst 'Whorehouse Blues' is a nice change of pace.

Only minor criticism is I really wish they would drop 'Killed By Death' - naff song, naff tune and its been around far too long but thats probably just me!

If you want one live Motorhead show this is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Business!, 27 Jul 2005
This DVD really kicks ass - blows the "Boneshaker" one away completely. It brings a really great gig to the screen with some really great footage (including "matrix" style multi camera stuff), and an excellent sound mix. A really brilliant show - classic songs, and great new material too, proving that the juggernaut just rumbles on... some great lighting too (much better than the 30th anniversary gig at Hammersmith, I reckon).

Tons of additional material.
If you like Motorhead, then you'll love this DVD.
Whetted the appetite for seeing them again in October...
Get well soon Lemmy. - Nice one lads.
