Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Preview

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones has a lot to live up to, in order to satisfy fans of both The Sands of Time and Warrior Within. Although the latter was more commercially successful many have argued that The Sands of Time was the better game, with more involving puzzles and a more engaging main character.

This second sequel aims to combine elements of both with the Prince returning to the besieged city of Babylon. In escaping from capture he inadvertently gives life to the Dark Prince – an evil alter ego with quite different powers.

As the game progress you can switch between the two characters by stepping into fire, with each using their different weapons in even more gruesome ways than before. The Dark Prince’s Daggertail is particularly deadly, being a sort of long spiky chain with a blade on the end that works rather like the whips from Castlevania.

As the latest in a long line of games to take inspiration from Grand Theft Auto the whole game is set within the city of Babylon, which is yours to explore as you wish. Although there are no vehicles to carjack you can take part in some particularly brutal chariot races, if you get tired of walking and jumping around.

Whether this ends up being the best Prince of Persia yet rather depends on how much you like The Sands of Time, but it certainly is the most attractive with some superb graphics and enough new features to make Warrior Within seem even more lacking than ever. -- Harrison Dent

This preview is based on an incomplete version of the game; features or problems mentioned above may not appear in the finished game.

Manufacturer's Description

The Prince of Persia makes his way home to Babylon, bearing with him Kaileena, the enigmatic Empress of Time, and unspeakable scars from the Island of Time. But instead of the peace he longs for, he finds his kingdom ravaged by war and Kaileena the target of a brutal plot.

Cast to the streets, hunted as a fugitive, the Prince soon discovers that the Sands have tainted him, too. They have given rise to a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him&.

  • Alternate between the two personalities: Wield the powers and weapons of two master warriors with different combat styles, attitudes, and histories.
  • Choose your way to kill: Master the expanded Free-Form Fighting system to destroy enemies in your own style; strangle enemies from afar with the deadly chain; or surprise them with full speed kill moves. The choice is yours.
  • Battle freely in an urban environment: Dominate enemies on the perilous rooftops, elude assassins in chaotic streets and ambush pursuers.
  • Immerse yourself in a dramatic story: Experience unparalleled depth in storytelling as you fight your way through a twisting tale filled with adrenaline, tension and discovery.
  • Manipulate time to surprise enemies: Execute powerful attacks against entire armies by slowing down or rewinding time, or surprise them by using some all-new Sands of Time powers.
  • Experience a masterful blend of gameplay: True to the Prince of Persia franchise, the game provides a variety of action combat, agility and story-driven puzzles all masterfully blended together into a rich gaming experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant fun!, 4 Feb 2006
    By A Customer
Prince of persia the two thrones is a game of many phases. When i first played it, i was slightly dissapointed. I am a huge fan of sands of time, and by comparisson this game seemed slightly of. However after weeks of playing, at a time when i normally get tired of games, this was still keeping me addiicted!
Graphics: The graphics in this game are amazing, on both a technical, and design leval. Where as the sands of time was all about yellows and light browns, and warrier within was with dark reds and blacks, this game uses muddy browns, and vibrant greens to great effect. As before, animation and atmosphere are spot on.
Sound: The developers have thankfully done away with the heavy rock of the last game, and replaced it with light arabian themes that are just right. As with sands of time this game is narrated which again is great. As for voice acting, the prince is perfect, as is his dark alter ego.
Entertainment: This game is hugely fun. Platforming is as great as ever, and the new speed kills work combat into the platforming, rather than distracting from it as in previous games. However, whilst loking cool, the parts where you cant speed kill and you have to fight, get tedious quickly.
Gameplay: This is one of the few games that has kept me playing for more than 2 weeks without getting bored. It just keeps getting better! As for origonality, the new features such as dagger plates and shutters really add to the gameplay, even if they dont sound like much. And the dark prince, whilst seeming bad at first, really comes into his own in the platforming sections.
Oveall this is a hugely entertaining game, whos brilliant arabian atmosphere and great platforming will keep you hooked for weeks!

    5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, 29 Jan 2006

I bought this game expecting it to be good entertainment but it is far more than just entertaining! With its amazing graphics and unique fighting system, Prince of Persia:Two thrones is by far the best P.O.P game yet. Although the fighting is not as bloody as warrior within, a true fan will most definitely be pleased, especially when it comes to playing as the dark prince!
It has a lot of gameplay and secret content to unlock as you progress.
Oodles of special moves and combos, and much more acrobatic insanity!
Basically, you should buy this game! If you love the other games or are just looking for an excellent adventure until Twilight Princess is released for the GC this is what you should buy.
