Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Of all the new games set to be released for the PSP, Pursuit Force looks to be the most exciting. Older gamers may find the concept reminiscent of 80s coin-op racer Chase H.Q., which is certainly a game long overdue an update. If you haven’t heard of Chase H.Q. don’t worry – as this is a pretty easy game to understand.

Cast as a police officer in the Pursuit Force it’s your job to arrest an almost unending stream of automobile equipped bad guys. And by arrest the game actually means run off the road, blow up or, in the game’s signature move, jump onto a moving vehicle, turf out the driver and steal their ride. It’s like an even more explosive version of Burnout but with guns and a wider range of transport.

The game is simple dumb fun, but the mix of driving and violence has rarely been combined so well. No doubt aware that the whole thing cold get a bit samey, there are plenty of different vehicles and weapons -- including the chance to pilot a police helicopter at various points in the game, complete with a highly destructive mini-gun accessory.

With some really stunning graphics and a great sense of speed this may be yet another driving game for the PSP, but there’s far more to it than simply getting a better lap time, which may ultimately make it the best of the bunch. --Harrison Dent

Manufacturer's Description
Pursuit Force sees a time where rising crime and mounting gang tensions make Capital City's streets a dangerous place. Meeting the hardened criminals with force is the job of a new type of cop working for the Pursuit Force team, an elite police division where the ends justify the means. Set across five districts controlled by violent criminals, Pursuit Force features more than 30 cases to crack in a non-stop festival of speed. The action takes place across an entire fictional American state, as the law gets tough on a new breed of gangs.

As a young, cocky and street tough cop, the player is tasked with bringing to justice five of the State's most infamous gangs, including the Vixens, a foxy group of ex-stunt girls who chose a life of crime to pay for their daring Hollywood lifestyles and outfits. Trained in martial arts, weapons design and death-defying stunts, the Vixens are hell-bent on living the high-life that Hollywood denied them. Led by Whiplash and The Fox, the sexy Vixens are a deadly combination of strategy and style.

Assisted by the old-school, short-tempered Chief of the Pursuit Force who likes to play by the book, players find themselves immersed in an adrenaline fuelled, high speed chase across 400km of city streets, freeways and off-road tracks, in their battle to outsmart the bad guys and rid the state of crime.

When ground assaults are unfeasible, take to the skies and man the Pursuit Force chopper, a prototype assault vehicle. Housing the latest mini gun technology and capable of firing 600 rounds per minute, shredding targets to devastating effect, this machine is specially designed for effective urban warfare. Combining the latest carbon fibre armour technology with high speed and excellent maneuverability, the helicopter team's remit is to provide support to the cop on the ground and in the air.

Whether jumping between high speed cars and helicopters or chasing down the foxy Vixens, Killer 66 or other hardened criminals, Pursuit Force takes justice into its own hands, setting a new standard for action, gameplay and graphics on the PSP.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely hard, but extremely fun., 21 Nov 2005

I must admit, that a game where you can jump from car to car, boat to boat, shooting, really appealed to me-it didn't mean it was going to be good, but this game turns out to be brilliant.

Pursuit Force is a new Law Enforcement agency that has been set up to take down the criminal underworld. Your a rookie cop in this agency and you'll need all your strength, wits and cunning to take out all the criminals. There are different groups you go against including the Warlords, the Vixens, and The Convicts. Its your job to clean up the city.

The graphics are great. There are many varied and detailed locations. The lighting is excellent, and the graphics are good accross the entire game, from the boating sections, to the walking sections, and even the driving sections. The characters are all show off the PSP's graphical potential.

The gameplay is brilliant. R1 shoots, and O makes you jump from vehicle to vehicle. Such simplistic controls mean that the game is a joy to play. The variety is great. The boating sections are good, and so are the driving sections, PLUS there are sections where you'll be on foot. There are over 30 missions in total in Career mode where you'll climb the ranks, from Rookie, to Captain (and higher.) Missions can involve taking out cars before they reach their destination, taking out certain people, or just beating someone to the border. If you get bored, there are time trial events to participate in and even races. Add to this the unlockable content (art work) and you've got a great game thats pleasing to look at, and fun to play.

Any drawbacks? This game is HARD, i mean REALLY HARD! You'll notice this almost immediately. Once you get to Lieutenant, it'll be almost impossible, and the fact that some missions are quite long and NONE have checkpoints mean that you'll end up screaming at the PSP on more than one occassion.

Overall, a great addition to the PSP, but only if you have patience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Class, 22 Nov 2005
I don't write reviews... I can't be bothered usually. but this game has inspired me to tell others about how good it is! It has the same level of polish and quality as ridge racer, you feel like your playing a real quality game from start to finish with great animation, music, menu system and gameplay. It's old school arcade action like chase hq but with the polish of a top notch modern day game. It has all the fun of the best car chases you've seen in movies except your in control. My one critcism is that roads you play on are all pretty liniar without any detours or shortcuts but the gameplay makes up for that tiny niggle.

Gameplay is not just about chasing after the bad guy, jumping onto their car and shooting them. The missions are diverse and varied and you change from being chaser to chased, road to river and a mix of many other vehicles to boot.

This game is great! Buy it! If your looking for great arcade action that tests your skills while filling you to the brim with eyecandy, buy this game.

9.5/10 there's always room for improvement ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars Pursuit Force, 9 April 2006
By darve33 (London, Greater London United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I bought this game about 3 weeks ago and I have already completed it. The gameplay is good and the graphics are amazing. I have to say the first mission of the game sets the tone as the game is hard. Some of the missions are ridicolously hard such as the final Convicts mission and the final mission of the game.

Although once you have completed the game there isn't much point in it as the races and time trials aren't the great. This led me to sell it in the end.

I would recommend this game for it's graphics and story mode but if you want a long lasting game I would suggest you get another game
