When i first got this i didnt think i was going to like it, however it is actually very good. Im not normally a fan of cel shading but this comes over very much like a comic book from the moment the disc starts to spin.

The levels you play as spider-man are a little repetitive but then theres only so much you can do with any title. What i do like is how quickly you can cover distance and how spectacular you can take corners once you are proficient at it. Your basic goal is to swing around completing races against the likes of johnny storm to achieve medals, but also complete battle missions which involves kicking several guys into submission, then webbing them up for the police to take them away.

once you achieve a number of these goals, the next piece of story line is revealed on the other side of new york...so lots ot frantic web slinging goes on but it never gets tiresome as you always try to take the next corner better than the last.

As venom, you fight wolverine near the start as your tutorial boss which you will find yourself thinking....."deep end" and "thrown in at". Press L to suck people in to drain their lifeforce and replace yours.

One problem i do have is that its a little too easy even on the harder modes....and can be completed in 2 days with minimal playing time. Another fault i picked is that in one of the cut scenes, a test tube with the sandman is shown to the audience, but he makes no appearance which is upsetting since they went to great pains to show off this tube.

On a good note though, mixture of villians for you such as Electro, Rhino, Green Goblin and S.H.I.E.L.D.

Overall, an excellent game, just too short....how often do i say that!!!

This ultimate game is astonishing! To think that someone could make a comic into a game!!! The game lets you explore new york as spider-man (aka Peter Parker) and his ultimate enemy venom (aka Eddie Brock.) Sadly their fathers died. But before they dide they
made a cure for cancer which was the venom suit. But they signed the wrong contract so it hurts people!!! this game has more of spider-mans enemys than any other game! one of the best games I ever played! James smerdon

I'm not exactly sure where to rate this game.

On the one hand, the fighting is very repetitive and sometimes confusing. The story is very short. (I had it on rental so played it a lot, but it only took me two days.)

On the other, web-swinging is the most fun I've ever had in any Spider-man game. Ever. In the original Playstation games you simply jumped in a direction and held down swing, and in the following generation you could alter you height and turn which was a nice addition but still underwhelming.
Whereas in this game, it's proper swinging.
You press the swing button and a line of web shoots out to the nearest building, you are then attached to this web until you let go. That might sound annoying, but it opens up so many possibilities.

When you first try swinging you will probably veer from one side of a street to another, but after a while you start to understand how it works and that's when the fun really begins.

I'm sure many of you reading this, and other reviews, will have seen the Spider-man films and whether you like them or not I'm sure you have dreamt of playing a game where you can experience the thrill of swinging from building to building. Up until now this part of Spider-man games has been a real let down, but this new system changes that.

Without the web-swinging, I would rate this game at 3, or possibly even 2 stars. But I don't think I can over look it.

Venom is also a nice addition, even though he suffers the same flaws.
