Good game, but you will have to have patience, 3 Aug 2005
In real life, test matches take up to 5 days. Whilst I'm not suggesting that people take 5 days over a game of Cricket 2005, it does highlight very important aspects of this game. Some reviewers have been complaining that batting is too hard, but a major part of cricket is concentration and patience. If you want to hit it out of the park with every shot, buy a baseball game. If you watch a real test match there will be many maiden overs, many deliveries where batsmen leave the ball, or just play defensively. So it is with Cricket 2005. To build up a score of 300 or so, you must play with care, it won't happen in 15 overs, with endless sixes. Practise is important, and once you master the timing (it does matter) and select the correct strokes, take notice of the field settings, then you will find that the batting in this game is not too difficult. It can be tricky, and just like in real life, sometimes you do get bowled out cheaply. I want a game that provides a challenge, where I can play well but still lose sometimes, where if I'm not concentrating, I get (quite literally) caught out. If you want a game where you win every time, where you hit 6 after 6 after 6, then get a different game. However, if you truly enjoy the challenge of cricket, and have the time and inclination to practise in order to improve, then I think you'd probably like this game.
