No words can do proper justice to this album., 25 Aug 2005
With a couple of possible exceptions, I agree with everything the previous reviewer's said - this album is absolutely stunning. As Magnet's previous album had been one of my all time favourite albums, I was really worried about buying 'The Tourniquet' because I didn't think he would have been able to produce anything to match 'On Your Side', but stupid, silly me - previous evidence has shown Magnet to be a genius so I wasted a day worrying for nothing before buying TT! As with 'On Your Side' it takes a couple of well listened to, (this is not the type of music to have on in the background), plays before 'The Tourniquet' grabs hold, but once it does, you'll wonder how it was possible to have lived without it hearing it everyday. In short if you liked 'On Your Side', you're pretty sure to not regret buying 'The Tourniquet', and if you never heard of Magnet but appreciate well crafted and original music with killer melodies that can take over your soul, then where have you been all this time?????? Oh and the few exceptions I mentioned at the beginning........ for me 'Believe' and 'Miss Her So' are the standouts on the album, but only marginally as in reality the whole album is one massive standout from a lot of other stuff that's around at the moment.
