Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
At some indeterminate point in their now 25 year long history and with serenely inconspicuous efficiency, Birmingham's UB40 rose to a level of peerlessness as the first-family of British reggae. While they've absolutely nothing left to prove - save to those bored by their longevity - Who You Fighting For finds UB40 shouting more loudly than usual; the likelihood being - even at this autumnal stage of the band's career - that less partisan ears may be pricked by such refreshing spices as the Bhangra chorus of "Reasons" or even by more traditional summer reggae sweeteners as "Gotta Tell Someone" or the dark, philanderer-reformed ruminations of "One Woman Man". But the real reason why UB40 are raising their voices is Iraq, possibly the most upset they've been about anything since Maggie's iron grip on the keys of Number 10. While having the brass to call one tune "War Poem" - not the wisest thing to do if one wants to avoid the elicitation of disparaging comparisons with Wilfred Owen - doesn't bode well, UB40 reach for the shrewd invective on "Sins Of A Father", a well-written censure of Christian neo-Conservatism and oil lust. Sensibly, the lean skin-and-bone production and avoidance of MOR blandishments make UB40 seem meaner - and younger - than they have done in years. --Kevin Maidment

CD Description
'Who You Fighting For' is the twenty third album from UB40 and sees them celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2005. The album sticks to the unique brand of reggae that has dominated all their releases so far, but with lyrics inspired by the state of world affairs. Also included are five covers of classic reggae songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Songs, Great Album, 11 Jul 2005
I received this cd one week ago. I took it, I observed the box, I opened the cd tray of my sound system, play and... it is brilliant!! When listening the first song I wondered if the rest would be that good, and they are it, all the tracks are very good.
The album is energetic, fantastic, with Ali Campbell's distinctive voice complemented with the beautiful sound of the rest of the band. It is like a return to the way in that the group made the music.
I have listened the UB40 music from 1989. I have their albums. In my opinion Who You Fighting For? is better than anyone of their last albums, Homegrown or Cover Up for example.
The sound of the group in this work is brilliant, refreshing. The ballads in this cd are beautiful. My favorite tracks: Who you fighting for, Plenty more, Good situation, Kiss and say goodbye (a version of the Manhattan's soft soul classic) and One woman man. Even if they were only these songs on the album, it is worth the price of the cd. But the rest are also excellent. Believe me, all the songs are very good.
When my friends listened some tracks and kiss and say goodbye from the album they said: ¡La música es buena, se escucha bien! In English: ¡It's nice!
If you like of the good reggae, you must have this cd. Buy it and you won't be disappointed. you will obtain something of quality, where in these times few good things come out in what concerns to the music.
UB40 celebrates its 25 anniversary, and with a great album. Enjoy it.

Well Done!

5.0 out of 5 stars A return to form, 15 Jun 2005
By simon paul watie (bath, avon United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
At the age of 20 i imagine i am quite a young UB40 fan. I have every studio album they have ever written, my favourite being either labour of love or guns in the gheto. I have to say i was very dissapointed with cover up and home grown. They just didnt sound like the ub40 i love. WHO YOU FIGHTING FOR is a return to form indeed. Every track is brilliant especially the title track WHO YOU FIGHTING FOR. Other standout tracks include AFTER TONIGHT and the extra track THINGS YOU SAY YOU LOVE.

LONG LIVE UB40

5.0 out of 5 stars Back on top form !!, 14 Jul 2005
By KC (Cornwall) - See all my reviews
Have been a fan since the beginning. The last couple of albums left me wondering if they have passed their sell-by-date. My faith has now been restored! Got the album last week and have played it many times since - it gets better with every listen.
