Ryan Teague's six preludes is music on a grand scale. Teague fuses textured symphonic orchestration with subtle sampling and technical manipulation. Essentially what Teague does is that he electronically enhances classical composition. In all of the six compositions Teague creates a unity, in which a sacred and reflective mood and atmosphere persists. However, Teague's work is succesful because amongst all the carefully manipulated sounds, real emotion is delivered to the listener. Although complex, Teague's music speaks with clarity, and if you are prepared to put in the effort - Teague rewards you in abundance. If anyone does stumble across this rather lame review I urge you to check him out. He should have a new album out in September (Coins and Crosses), and we can only hope Teague's slow, brooding and textured compositions are equal to the mark he set with Six Preludes.
