Product Description

A fast-moving, action-packed adventure... Sword and sorcery for all the family. This box set features all 12 episodes of Dark Knight. Set in the dark ages - a time of fear, magic and mystery - Dark Knight is a radical new look at the Ivanhoe legend; an Ivanhoe for the 21st Century, battling tyranny and oppression and a legion of terrifying, magical and hellish creatures. Ancient evil is about to be unleashed on the land and the only hope is the sharp sword, the pure heart and the mysterious force that protects the 'Chosen One' Ivanhoe. This highly acclaimed series is a dark and brooding adventure with loads of humour, fabulous sets and costumes and with a terrifying range of sligs and shades, snakes and dragons. Starring Ben Pullen as Ivanhoe, Charlotte Comer as Rebecca and Peter O Farrell as the loyal dwarf Odo, Dark Knight blends classic action-adventure storytelling with the modern touches demanded by today's audiences. The series was created by Terry Marcel and produced by Phil Wallbank and Joseph D Morais. It was filmed in New Zealand with a production crew which boasts Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess as credits.

Synopsis

High action adventure, daring deeds, magic and sword fights all feature in this first series as Ivanhoe and his followers go up against Prince John and the sorcerer Mordor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why I love Dark Knight, 7 May 2006
By M. Milburn "cimorene_uk" (Gateshead, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I loved this show with a passion when it was on TV. It is in a different league to shows like Hercules and Xena. Some people seem to dislike it because of the seriousness of the main character, but to me this made him more real. The real joy of this show was the character development and interactions over the two series (which was far too few).

It is a wonderful mixture of sword, sourcery and romance. The characters are intriguing and the stories are different and interesting.

Ivanhoe's character is wonderful, and different from other shows. He's strong and courageous, lyal to his king and his friends and family. His love for Rebecca becomes clear, but for him it isn't - or is even beyond - the physical (although she doesn't quite see it that way!) The way his heart softens over time is extremely endearing. It is a joy to see the moments of comedy or tenderness between the characters.

And if nothing else, both Charlotte Comer (Rebecca) and Ben Pullen (Ivanhoe) are gorgeous, one beautiful and one ruggedly handsome. I'm happy to return to Dark Knight if only to watch them!!

I can't wait for the second series to be released

3.0 out of 5 stars Medium fare, 27 Sep 2008
By Lunablu (Australia) - See all my reviews
Althought this series has a different feel to shows like Xena and Hercules, it's also obvious that they didn't have as big a budget as those shows. The delivery of lines, fight scenes and scene staging all seem a little on the clunky side and not as smooth as Xena or Hercules. I again put this all down to the budget and not necessarily the actors.

However, pls also check your package upon arrival. My package had not been properly secured on both sides and anyone could have easily stolen the goods without damaging the carton it was in. Further, I had used a "care of" address and those people could have easily seen what I had ordered (which is a privacy issue as well). Amazon UK gave an apology and have noted it to their department but I hesitate to use their services again.
