I recently got this direct from Melodic, and what a delight it is! I really love it, it is cool, with lots of retro sounds and samples; it is nice and upbeat and always makes me feel good. It is also pretty laid back, everything is given the space to develop so nothing sounds slap dash or rushed. Sounds like Philip Glass or Steve Reich finally found some decent themes and learnt how to make nice accessible music. The reason I say that is because of the well developed quality, nothing surprises, everything develops well and is given a couple of bars so that you can really savour it. It is 'minimalist' (or music on a repetitive theme) that you will actually want to listen to again. Seek it out, you will want to have his children in gratitude.

I've been listening to 'For The Lonely Hearts of The Cosmos' for several years now, leaping upon it after hearing the track 'Weather Clicker' on a Melodic sampler a few years previously. Right back in 2002, Baikonour seemed to be doing something different, somehow mixing lounge with krautrock and minimalism to produce some really thoughtfully orchestrated and enduring chilled grooves. The choice of sounds and the arrangements on the album recall the same kind of mentality motivating the music of Broadcast or Stereolab, which will hopefully serve as a referential endorsement. This is a simply awesome kind of retro electronic rock. I'm really hoping that J E Krieger will provide us with the follow up soon, because his sound is very distinctive, and I'm not sure anybody else can give me the same kind of music fix.
