"You won`t be disappointed". This was funny the first time around for me when I was a small child and it still is! Alfie Bass and Bill Fraser work together brilliantly. The timing is perfect and their expressions and acting quality is second-to-none. The skill of these actors is rarely seen today, perhaps "Only Fools and Horses" is one other exception. People who understand comedy and love theatre will love this DVD.

Made in the days of National Service a great nostalgic comedy, Bootsie has bad feet so is 'Excused Boots', then there's the sergeant always referred to by Bootsie as 'Old Smudge', Bootsie loves his jelly babies but is not so keen on army life, then there's Flogger (Harry Fowler) who will flog anything. Quite a few episodes on this to keep you going, much preferred this to Vol 2 where halfway through Bill Fraser is replaced by a new sergeant played by William Hartnell (the 1st Dr Who)and Bootsie disappears to be replaced by Dick Emery.
