3.0 out of 5 stars different purpose, 7 Jun 2009

It would be quite useful to have this soldering Iron around for the odd bit of simple quick soldering but the soldering tip is quite fragile and easily broken.

2.0 out of 5 stars great idea, but extremely fragile, 20 Jul 2009
By Colin (UK and Azerbaijan) - See all my reviews
I bought this, and the tip broke during the first job. I am quite experienced at soldering, and I read the Coldheat instructions carefully. I guess I was just not prepared for quite how fragile the tip was.
I had only 2 connections to unsolder and resolder, but I had to go and get my conventional mains iron to finish the job.
It is a pity, or even if spare tips could be easily purchased it might be OK. I have searched but cannot find where to buy.
Great idea for a quick-use light job tool, but simply far too fragile.
