5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST ROCK ALBUM OF THE 90,S, 27 Oct 2005
i remember the first time i heard this album i was really heavily into indie music like the verve and oasis and had not listened to heavy metal for years.
i bumped into a old school chum and he advised me to check out
this album. being a big iron maiden fan up until bruce,s departure i borrorwed the album and it blew me away.
it seemed that the indie music i had been listening too seemed tired and dull compared to this work of genius from bruce dickinson. without much ado i went to my local music retailer and bought the album.
KING IN CRIMSON is a fantastic opener whilst the provocative THE CHEMICAL WEDDING lays on more fantastic layers of colour to a album so confident it could chat your mum up in front of your dad. THE TOWER is a thumping good track. i suggest buying the remastered edition of THE CHEMICAL WEDDING as it contains a song not on the original album called RETURN OF THE KING and in many ways it reflects the mood of the album. bruce dickinson is the king of heavy metal and once more he is back in his throne(IRON MAIDEN).
funnily enough i dont listen to indie music anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best!, 19 Jul 2005
By Mr. S. Wilkins "stewart733" (Southampton UK) - See all my reviews

Bruce Dickinson's reputation goes before him and his solo material demonstrates his breadth of skill and his depth of talent. Whilst known for his frontman status in Iron Maiden, his solo material has always stood up to scrutiny and this album comes close to toppling the best work he has done since he began.

The sound is hard, heavy and rich and the arrangements complex and thoroughly well resolved. His vocal style is unique and here he demonstrates sheer ability. I implore you to purchase this album, it is one of the very best metal / rock albums ever made and I find myself still rummaging through my iPod now to play in the car.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most under-rated albums ever, 2 Nov 2006
By P. Dack "phildack" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As a long-time, sadly devoted and often blinkered Iron Maiden fan, I only bought this because it featured Bruce Dickinson. And boy, did it open my eyes. A dazzling combination of Nu-metal, hard rock, classic Maiden-riffs (many immediately identifiable as coming from Adrian Smith) and even some folksie elements turns out an album that manages to be dark and gritty, yet lyrical and at times full of wit. I simply can't recommend this enough. It may take a few listens to really get to grips with it, but to me this rides all over anything Iron Maiden have produced in years and demonstrates how much that band is held back by their obsession with doing things in a certain way. Talent plus new blood plus the willingness to innovate - that's Chemical Wedding.
