A welcome return., 26 Jul 2004
I've been into NMA since the mid-eighties. A friend introduced me to their Vengeance and No Rest albums. Since then I've collected each subsequent offering and have to say, NMA are a band that grow and evolve; and that's one of the reasons why they're still around after so many years. So, what about this DVD? Is it up to snuff? How's the sound? How's the set? The DVD is very, very good. The sound quality is excellent (5.1 or 2.0). The set is pretty seasonal as it was recording on the 16th December 2003. I'm not saying they did a set that included Jingle Bells and Away In A Manger, mind - you'll see what I mean. I thought the set was a good cross-section without being a back catologue. No Rest, Poison Street, Stupid Questions, Green And Grey, 51st State, I love The World, Purity, Orange Tree Roads etc... I would love to have seen the guys play White Coats, Space and a few others, but all in all it was a good balance. I very much enjoyed the Interview with Justin Sullivan (25 mins approx). I found his views both interesting and insightful. The interviewer, however, should learn to give the interviewee spoace to answer the question without butting in or trying to answer for him. Really bad technique. A very worthwhile purchase!
