Product Description

Album Description
Ohmwork is the brand new album from original bassist and founding member of Black Sabbath, Geezer Butler. With fellow band members Pedro Howse (guitar), Clark Brown (vocals) and Chad Smith (drums), Butler has produced an album bristling with energy, aggression, super-heavy riffs and rock-solid execution. Solid proof that he remains a formidable force in the metal world.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pardon My Depression, 23 May 2005

A great deal has been made of how the album only took 10 days to record, and although this is something I heartily commend, you'd have hoped the eight years prepping would have been put to better use. And while you have to give props to Geezer Butler for wanting to sound contemporary, there is nothing here you won't have heard on a Drowning Pool or Disturbed record.

It's not all lost, "Pardon My Depression", "I Believe" and "Don't You Know" have an individuality about them, which lifts them out of the pack. Which makes me think that it may be the company he's keeping that prevents Geezer from creating the album he's capable of. Geezer needs a Phil Anselmo singing his songs for those three tracks will get played again, but the other 7 are pedestrian.

I wanted to like this, for Geezer is the godfather, but it wasn;t worth the wait

4.0 out of 5 stars solid, 10 April 2006
A good, solid album from black sabbath's bassist. It's not going to set the world on fire with amazingness, but there are enough interesting tracks on the album to keep you listening, even if some drag a little. 'misfit' and 'pardon my depression' are great broody metal tracks, before the album becomes more upbeat with 'prisoner 103'. Much of the rest of the album is standard fare, but stays miles above the dirge that albums by, say, drowning pool or godsmack (who others have compred the album to) inevitably resort to. One of the stranger tracks, which i think could have been made more of, is 'pseudocide' which features both thrashy and rap-metal riffs with an incredible female backing voice. for me, GZR can manage diversions like these well. They built their foundations on solid, super-heavy riffs (1995's Plastic Planet) but have shown they can branch outwards into other areas of aural candy (especially cycle of sixty from PP) and it may well be tracks like these that keep people coming back to GZR
