Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

On the run and fighting for his life behind the Iron Curtain, Matt Carter, a freelance journalist finds himself in the midst of an international conspiracy that aims to control the U.S.S.R.

Twelve hours after arriving in Moscow for a routine story, Cater has been stripped of all possessions, beaten unconscious and thrown in the KGB's political prison.

Using only recovered weapons and improvised gadgets, he must now evade or overcome elite Soviet forces to defeat the conspiracy before he is sent to siberian prison camp or killed.

Cold War is the first game to bring next-generation stealth gameplay behind the Iron Curtain. Built by a team with first hand knowledge of the U.S.S.R. and utilizing advanced that extends the stealth combat seen in titles such as Splinter Cell, Cold War offers a unique and enticing game with broad appeal topically and gameplay deep enough to satisfy hard-core gamers. Gamers will fight, infiltrate and improvise to prevent the overthrow of the pro-GLASNOST Soviet goverment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could you make it a bit more realistic please?, 18 April 2009

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
Yes,it's virtually like Splinter Cell/Hitman,same skulking about, same menu to interact with stuff etc..my only gripe,I've almost finished it,is the enemy 'senses',the sight/hearing 'cones' pass through walls so when you're creeping along a corridor they will hear you on a different floor!!,this makes some of the stealth bits a nightmare as the meerest brush against something triggers an alert and takes ages to return to normal, thankfully you can save/load anytime so some of the pain is lessened,I've done certain sections at least a dozen times, there's a bit in a storage area with patrolling guards and trying to lure one away so you can eliminate him quietly was taxing to say the least!,there's a bit with a guard infested courtyard that's similar,on the other hand it's all competently done and looks great.
I must admit ,I bought this very cheaply as I'd played the demo and was in two minds about it,especially the 'Halls of Hell'level,it's timed/on fire/crawling with Russian special forces.
There are a number of initially annoying bits, like dragging a scientist around, timed bits, rooms filled with gas etc. but the sense of achievement is awesome as is nailing a guard with a quick knock to the head.
Not perfect but pretty good nonetheless.
