I do enjoy this game in a lot of ways, but it's also a bit of a let-down in others.First the negatives : The selection of cars is weak at best. Yes, there are over 50 cars in the game, granted, but most of these are different variations of one another. That's fine if you're playing GT4 or something, but for a street racing game, one version per model would have been fine. Gameplay. You do get used to it. The more tricked out your ride is, the faster it will perform and the better the racing will seem, but it still lacks the adrenaline that a game like this should have. Customization. It's a little tricky to get used to, and the cosmetic customization is limited. It feels like you've had very little input as to how your car looks. Soundtrack. It's bad. Even for rap music. Also, it's repetetive due to the fact that there is only a handful of tracks overall. Positives: The graphics are stunning. Some of the best I've seen on this type of game. The bodykits and custom vinyls you can choose from are also among the best I've seen on a street racing game. Way better than the lame attempts found in the NFS Underground series. The police pursuits are also a nice touch. If you get busted, you get fined, rather than just getting your car trashed like other racing games. The girlfriend element is a somewhat mixed blessing. On the plus side, they're real models, not some fictional characters, and you do get to unlock three videos of each model as you win street races, but they just involve each model dancing about to one of the handful of bad music tracks in the game. Even as eye-candy, it's still a little on the lame side. Plus, apart from the initial challenge to win each girl's affections, there is no interaction with them at all. Finally, the fact that you can accept wagers is also a neat touch. If you smoke the guy you accepted the wager from, you win the money even if you don't finish first in that particular race.
