Review

Bellydance for Body Shaping uses bellydance floorwork moves as a foundation for a fun yet challeging workout. The atmosphere is lovely, the music fantastic, and the instructor Tanna is great. She is personable and clear throughout her insrtuction. This DVD has complete warm-ups and cool-downs, including an introduction about the muscle groups used. Tanna makes sure you do each excercise properly so you don't put strain your back, hips, or knees. The workouts are broken down into 3 sessions. As each session progresses, the next is a bit more challenging. Tanna gives a short performance incorporating the moves at the end of each session. This DVD is perfect for someone who wants to try something different and fun, strengthen the upper body, or learn some slinky dance moves. --amazon.com (US)

I was really excited about this DVD because one part of my range that I lack is floor work. She has some lovely ideas and put into practice would be lovely. However, she seems to be quite 'new' at dancing. Some of the moves are not executed well and she does not explain some of them. This DVD is ok if you already know what you are doing and need some ideas so at least you will be able to recognise the moves. However if you are a beginner, I wouldn't attempt this video, it would probably put you off. Wait until you are more familiar with the moves.

I bought this DVD hoping it would show me some nice transition moves from dancing, down to floor level, & getting up gracefully, with some interesting & varied moves whilst doing floorwork, but I didn't get this from the DVD.

the range of moves are limited & aren't executed well, and it doesn't seem like a dance, more like a stretching session with someone rolling about on the floor & snaking their arms a lot. I have another DVD instructed by Tanna, & it is better than this. i wouldn't recommend this to buy.
