Never heard of them? Hear them now!!!, 27 Mar 2005
This is a great album - I had never heard of the band before but stumbled upon them completely by chance while browsing in a record shop in Sweden. I was hooked immediately and the album has been with me everywhere ever since. There isn't a bad track on it. The guitar riffs are catchy and the harmonies to die for. If you like The Killers, Embrace or the Sterephonics, you will probably love this. There is a good mix of up- and down-tempo tracks to choose from depending on your mood. "You Can't Steal My Love" and "All My Senses" are two particular favourites. I can't believe the band hasn't made much (if any?) of an impact over here - bizarre when you think what impeccable music taste us Brits have in comparison to our European neighbours! ; ) Don't be put off by the audio samples of Mando Diao's previous album on the Amazon site - I was really disappointed by them. This album, however, is simply superb and, in my opinion, outclassed every other release in 2004. Buy it!

Give Mando Diao a chance..., 25 Aug 2005
By A Customer
Having owned this album for around 2 months, I'm astounded that Hurricane Bar hasn't received the recognition that I feel it deserves over here in the UK.With catchy lyrics, seriously infectious guitar melodies and two great singers, whose voices compliment each other so well (one of which has an uncanny resemblance to that of Noel Gallagher), Mando Diao have definitely become one of my favourite bands of this year. As a huge fan of Oasis, The Killers, Embrace and Coldplay, for me Hurricane Bar is up there with the likes of Don't Believe The Truth, Hot Fuss, Out Of Nothing and X&Y. As far as describing Mando Diao's sound goes, I'd say it's a mix of indie and what I would call traditional 60's style rock n roll with a bit of something extra thrown in! If that doesn't give you much of an idea of what Mando Diao are all about then hear this - if you're like me and you love music that gets you clapping your hands, tapping your feet and generally trying to strut around like Mick Jagger in his prime, then buy this album, tell all your friends about this album and give Mando Diao a chance - cos I wanna hear more of this stuff...

"Raw" Rock'n'Roll at its best!, 1 Jun 2005
In the tradition of guitars with attitude rock, such as the Libertines, Clash, Jet and even early Stones, the Kinks and the Who, there is Mando Diao. With slashing guitars and thrashing drums, Mando Diao succeed in creating a high energy rock album with their sophomore release, Hurricane Bar. The band is powered by vocalists and guitarists Gustaf Norén and Björn Dixgård; today's generation Glimmer Twins. The first track "Cut the Rope" sets the tone with its vocal chord shredding that sets the frenzy that is "Hurricane Bar". The following track "God Knows" would make Mick Jagger proud with its sneer attitude and swagger in Norén's vocals. This is followed by one of the three songs released as singles, "Clean Town," a rocker you can hum to. Dixgård's vocals forge ahead into the fourth track, the hard driving "Down in the Past" which leads in to the gem of "Hurricane Bar", "You Can't Steal my Love." Dixgård's hook laden guitar steers this melodic rocker as Norén ignites it with its catchy lyrics: "I was walking down the street with my chains tied up to my feet. I leaned instead of jiggie with the sidewalk" Ingenious. "You Can't Steal My Love" should be in everyone's Top 10 list for 2005. Norén and Dixgård song writing rival that of Lennon and McCartney in their early years. Hurricane Bar is a must buy for 2005 . . . While you're at it, buy "Bring'em in," their first album, also.
