The BT Aviator 10M looked just what I wanted. A portable DAB radio with FM for those stations not on a multiplex (and likely never to be so), and a means of playing MP3 cards.

It got off to a bad start. My first Aviator had poor reception, it was deaf. It wouldn't receive DAB at home where I know other receivers do work well. I live in a weak signal area so it was not a surprise. However the receiver died within a 15 minutes. It would not receive a thing, just noise on DAB and FM. Time to get it changed.

The second Aviator arrived. It was slightly better at receiving than the first. It was at this point I became disappointed with the sound quality, it could be better. I then bought a Dutch DAB ghetto blaster, that worked fine at home, sounded much better too.

Time to take the Aviator to work. It didn't work. The signal strength was too great for the poor thing. With the telescopic aerial only extended by 30cm it did play.

Time for a set of batteries. Worked the same on batteries. Turned it off, locked the office and went home, came back 2 days later and it was making a whistling sound. The batteries were flat.
