4.0 out of 5 stars It looks like a toy, but this should really be for display, 26 Jul 2005

Together with the ARC-170 and Jedi Starfighter (with Vulture Droid) sets, this Droid Tri-fighter completes the cast of the opening battle of Star Wars Episode 3. It looks great once finished.

This set seems to have gotten quite a bit of negative publicity, so I will attempt to set the record straight on it. Yes it is delicate and obviously not designed for a small (or clumsy) child. However, so long as you handle it carefully (which is how all Lego should be handled anyway) it won't come apart in your hands. Kids have just got to learn that some toys are meant to be handled nicely.

As far as building was concerned, this was actually a little arduous. "Tri-fighter" isn't just a name, it's a good indication of what the building process is like. Almost everything needs to be done three times over, which ensures nice symmatry, but gets quite tedious. Also, once the model is built you must apply stickers to some of the panels to add a little extra detail. These can be annoying to put on, and a child may have difficulty placing them straight and the correct way around.

Now that the model is finished though it looks wonderful. It turned out bigger than I expected and with all the hinges it is quite a feat of Lego engineering.

If you want this for display, that's great. If your child wants it however, be prepared to help him or her put it together and perhaps fix it once in a while.

It really is one of the better episode 3 sets.
It looks how it should & is a really interesting shape.
Despite it looking like it'll break if you touch it thats not the case. The engines are the only part that have fell off before and thats quite a pain though.

Its a great little ship & comes with a buzz droid.
