5.0 out of 5 stars Full Metal Beast of an Anime, 16 Feb 2006
By ganon92 (Worcester, Britain) - See all my reviews
When i watched the first dvd, i was blown away with Full Metal's ability to blend action and drama into one brilliant show. Now, having watched this dvd, i am not only going to get all the dvds, but i have to hail this as a great achievement in the anime universe. Quite a lot of the time, animes don't seem to live up to their manga counterparts. But with FMA, i think that it has lived up to the hit manga and gone further.
In this dvd, it shows more of what Ed and Al get up to in their hectic lives in central, or at least, how they got themselves into it. Unlike the first dvd, this one has more plot twists, ones of which will make you delve more into the heartships that the Elric brothers get themselves into. This truly comes into play in ep. 7 and ep.8 (ep.7 more so). Ep.7 has a huge plot twist explaining how cruel society can be and people who dwell in it, while ep.8 is probably more to do with shock value, especially at the end where 'Barry the Chopper' attemps to kill Ed, while holding Winry captive.
I have noticed many things about FMA; one of which is that the world inwhich it is set is similar to a 19th century Europe. For instance- 'Barry the Chopper' shows a strong indication that he is based on the London serial murdurer 'Jack the Ripper'. And as well they both only kill women- as you can see there is a strong resemblence.
As for the dvd- i would rate this a 96/100 which is a stong achievement and is a great follow- up to the first dvd. Buy this dvd!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great DVD, 6 Aug 2005
To anyone who has seen the first DVD and thought 'That was OK, but there is nothing special' Please believe me when I say that DVD 1 was just the slow start to allow the watcher to 'adapt' to the world of the fullmetal alchemist.

This DVD goes back in time in Ed and Als life, we meet them as children, and follow them through to becoming State Alchemist and then there is a completely different episode, number 7, This episode is so heart Rendering and thought provoking, I will challenge anyone who says they were not affected by Nina and Shou Tucker. The series only gets better from this point, through the 13 DVDs the series progresses, we learn about their past, and we find ourselves hanging on every event in the last few episodes of the entire series(episodes 47-51).

To anyone who is sceptical, search google for episode guides, they may contain slight spoilers, but they are nothing compared to what is actually on the disk.
