Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Experience every aspect of fierce WWII naval combat as you command a host of US and Allied air, sea and underwater units through intense, action-packed missions in hotspots across the Pacific. At your disposal are over 60 legendary war-machines, including huge aircraft carriers, battleships, destroyers, land and carrier based bombers and even submarines, all equipped with authentic weaponry.

Action based gameplay allows you to switch between all units under your command at the press of a button, whilst firing real-time orders to position the rest of your squad. In total control of breathtaking multiple unit battles you will engage the enemy in fierce dogfights, launch multiple attack squadrons from a carrier, fire the massive guns of a battleship, whilst launching deadly torpedo attacks from a hidden submarine.

The game consists of a variety of campaign and individual challenge missions, each with several objectives and multiple pathways. You will lead your fleet from Pearl Harbor, through the Philippines, Java and the Coral Sea to the decisive Battle of Midway. Each mission is conducted across immense open-world environments, featuring historically detailed island bases, fully destructible buildings and functional airstrips.

If that is not enough, head online and duel it out against numerous opponents in epic island sieges and head-to-head fleet battles.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good fun campaign, lacks depth, 15 Feb 2007

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Overall I think this is a fun game - there's plenty of things to control, and the playing style is pretty simple. But that is also a weakness of the game, because it seems to be a jack of all the trades and a master of none. The campaign is engaging but brief. The tutorial missions cover all the aspects, but I found them to be somewhat labourious to move through - they had to be accessed seperately rather than being part of a seemless "introduction", and each tutorial had the same style of opening and ending with a different bit of content in between.

So - good points: you can move through quickly, easy learning curve, good fun, you can blow stuff up.

Bad points - Bit too simplistic sometimes, bit too quick to go through the main campaign, and, truth be told, I found myself getting bored at points.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the 13 hour download?, 6 Feb 2007

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Having spent some 13 hours downloading this from Direct2Drive, I can say it's very good. Owning all of the silent hunter series I can say it doesn't compare with the in depth simulators, It's more of a click fest to fire guns etc and very arcade style. That said it's pleasent enough graphics are very good, sound is good . Seems to have a bug on the training missions where your ship goes out of the play area and you fail but I am sure it will be addressed.

Nice varience of ships, Planes and subs, simplistic controls..More of a quick fix of a bit of carnage than a thinkers game.Well written missions though with some nice cut scenes to string it all together and a very good if slightly flawed set of tutorials.

Feel maybe they could of done better to just concentrate on giving you a nice big battleship with an open theatre of war and let you get on with it. Don't let that put you off it's worth the money and there is certainly worse out there masquerading as better!

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
very nice looking game well modelled ships and aircraft. the terrain is also very good. i just found this game way too easy and completed to campaign within 6 hours so not happy that i paid £30 for it. however i think this game is more for online gaming
