5.0 out of 5 stars Among Glass's Best, 12 May 2008

One part of Glass's Cocteau trilogy gets an overdue release, but the wait has been worth it. Dark, sensuous and utterly mesmeric, this is Glass near his best and these discs are a must for all Glass fans, but also a good entry point for newcomers. This underlines why Glass is widely regarded as the world's greatest living composer, but won't convince the staid nay-sayers of the musical establishment. Glass isn't just a genius, he is god.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glass on Cocteau, 18 Oct 2006
By Alfredo Vellido Alcacena (Barcelona, Spain) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
For some weird reason, Philip Glass seems to be producing his best music out of the inspiration provided by Jean Cocteau. With "La belle et la bete" he was at his best (ever?). "Les Enfants Terribles" might be a lesser achievement but fascinating nonetheless. The use of the piano throughout the score is truly enchanting.
