4.0 out of 5 stars More for Fans of Soundgarden than Killswitch Engage, 7 April 2005
I wanted to listen to this album when I found out that the lead singer of Seemless is Jesse David Leach, formerly of the mighty Killswitch Engage who are, as far as I'm concerned, the greatest metal band of the moment! His powerful voice brought alot to KsE, so you can imagine the excitement I felt when I first put this album in the player.
Overall, they do show promise. There are some genuinely good riffs on here and, of course, the vocals are great. However, those of you who enjoy the screamy parts of Killswitch be warned: Jesse hardly shouts at all on this, it is far more of his melodic voice, which is great but obviously the fury and intensity of KsE isn't there.
They remind me far more of Soundgarden, in that the riffs are quite slow compared to on "Alive or Just Breathing", they sometimes get chuggy in a grungy way and the solos are far more common. Don't get me wrong, I do love the chugging and the soloing, but for someone who prefers his metal shot up the a*se with 1,000 volts, its a tad mellow.
If you miss the grunge days of yore, give it a listen because there are some precious moments here. I was going to give it 3 stars but it sounds like a grower, and I have a feeling that, a few albums down the line, Seemless could turn into something truly momentous!

For fans of: Soundgarden, Marlilyn Manson, the "singy" bits of Killswitch Engage

With the band consisting of former Killswitch Engage singer Jesse Leach and former Shadows Fall Memebers, it's easy to assume that this COULD be a Metalcore supergroup......but how wrong this assumption would be.
Seemless leave behind their past musical efforts and come forth with an entirely new sound......that leads much more towards stoner rock and grunge with the focus not being on extreme metal riffs and a screaming frontman but a more melodic and musically driven release.
This album exhibits how talented all the musicians are with the pace being slowed down but still just as focused.
*WARNING*
This band and their members should NOT be compared to their previous works as they have produced something entirely different and ultimately better and anyone expecting something heavy and metalcore should look towards other bands because these guys are in an entirely different genre.
