Product Description

The Times

"A future classic, destined to be responsible for many wasted nights in the year ahead 5/5"

Manufacturer’s Description

In Battlefield 2, players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, China, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of any of the game's 30+ vehicles to engage in major conflicts with over 100 players in some of the largest online battles on the PC.

Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests, in some of the most notorious hot spots around the world. Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle-to-player ratio and an optimized game play experience. Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their team mates. With in-game success, players increase their rank from recruit all the way to General and unlock awards, including new weapons, vehicle decals, medals, and more.

Additionally, Battlefield 2 showcases an all-new game engine and physics system to bring the modern battlefield to life like never before. The new material penetration feature measures weapons' ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much Better Than The First, 21 Oct 2006
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Let me just say that this game is not for single player although it can be played with AI opponents but you do not get the same feeling as you do online.

This game is graphically good and the gameplay is fun. You can form your own squads and be leaders or grunts. If you like you can apply to be field commander so you can call in artillery and support etc. All are fun and enjoyable.

All teams have there own weapons and there are a variety of different classes from medics to support gunners, grunts to special forces. And all the time you are meeting and impressing friends as you take out a base all by yourself, lead your squad or army to victory or save them with a tank or air strike, the possibilities of fun and proudness are endless with the variety of levels and vehicles you have at your disposal.

Pros

+ Meet lots of friends
+ Good variety of everything
+ Graphically good
+ Great, great fun that never gets old

Cons

- Single player very poor

5.0 out of 5 stars Very cool multiplayer...., 25 Jun 2006

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Having invested in the 1942 series of 'Battlefield', I was extremely excited to learn that this new release was on its way. I was not dissappointed. At all.

Ok, if you dont have internet, I would advise not to get the game, as only a few maps are available to play in Vs. the computer, and you don't get to experience the sheer imense-ness (?) of the game.

HOWEVER, if you do have internet, BUY THIS NOW!!! Basically, the maps are v.cool, can support 64 players at once smoothly, and are HUGE!!! One of the very cool aspects of the game is that you can get 'upgraded' to a higher rank, which comes with new weapons - V. cool. The upgrade also allows you to play as any special operations force from around the globe - all equipped with their own unique armoury to wreak death with. cool. Now on to the vehicles you can kick...um...the enemy with...thousands of tanks, personnel carriers, jeeps, AA tanks, choppers, jets, AA batteries, MG batteries etc. are yours for the taking - trust me, it is wicked... you can lock missiles onto people....The other very cool thing about this game is that when commander, you can be in charge of an artillery battery that resembles the apocalypse. Any tank, soldier or thing that is in the target area gets blown into the next century...only, it gets kinda annoying when the enemy uses it on you, but then again you can just blow it up with a couple of C4 charges...

This version of battlefield hands down beats any of its predecessors, and I strongly recommend anybody with a good internet connection buys this game. Just remember, it is designed for internet play and will therefore seem to be a waste of money to anybody who does not have internet. Happy fighting!

5.0 out of 5 stars Undisputed King, 3 Oct 2006

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This game and the rest of its series are simply superb. You cannot get a more realistic or enjoyable game from the battlefield. Its continued expansion means it'll never get boring. Because it focuses on multiplayer the game is never the same, nor is it easy. Fly jets, fly helicopters, tanks, humvees, or just plain infantry. Any way you do it it'll always be fun.
Other FPS's like Counterstrike just arn't as diverse or as enjoyable, they are played too seriously. The only recommendation I would make to prospective buyer is have a good computer and internet connection. The game is excellent anyway you play it, but, on high graphics and without lag through the internet its the best game you can play at the moment. Although still excellent at lower graphics, it lacks the level of realism you get with the higher graphics. I don' think I need to explain why lagging internet connections can ruin the game.
What you need to play it at the best you can:

256mb Graphics card bought in the last 2 years.
1024 of Ram (although 512 is still fine)
Broadband internet of at least 512kbps.

The best you can buy! Seriously!
