5.0 out of 5 stars ultimate 2d beat em up of all time, 13 Dec 2004
The Guilty gear games have never sold that well (well not uk), for all fans of Capcom and Snk fighting games the last 10 years this is a must have.

The series main selling point has always been the graphics visually its amazing, with high resolution sprites that walk all over games like Capcom vs Snk 2. But the series problem has always been gameplay issues, mainly the balance of the characters.

However this is something thats been ironed out in the sucessive sequels, while some might argue this game lives in the shadow of Neo Geo games like Samuari showdown or Last Blade, and doesn't play as well as Street fighter Alpha 3 or Third strike.

But the continued tweaking of each similar sequel have really made this version of Guilty gear X the ultimate 2D beat em up. Definetly recommended at this cheap price if u shop around

4.0 out of 5 stars Double the price, remove a feature and there you have it., 14 Dec 2004
Well, this game is a 2D masterpiece, similar in almost everything to the Xbox version from the graphics, audio and gameplay. But let's look at this from a consumer's standpoint. You have two exact replicas of the same game. One's for Xbox, the other, PS2. One is half the price, allows online matchmaking. The other is at the normal release price of a premium title. And does not have online capabilities. Sure, I bought the game because it's simply the best 2D fighter in the block. Even in single player modes. Even payed full price for it because it's that good... But Zoo Digital must review their stand in terms of who they are selling this game to. Most likely this game will be ignored by the majority of Xbox users, while PS2 users get the short end of the stick, when they are actually the ones who will truly enjoy this game (It's not hard to imagine it, PS2 is only second to Dreamcast in their 2D fighter releases). I bet this strategy won't work next time they try it. PS2 owners deserve online play and half the price just as much as the next gamer.
