Ani is on top form with this new release!, 20 Jan 2005
Firstly, I just want to say that I highly recommend this album!I walked into a small CD shop- you know the ones that aren't chains. Had a little look around and thought I'd see if they had any Ani CDs. To my amazement they had her new album a week before it's UK release, don't know why but naturally I bought it to hear it before everyone else. I have been listening to the 'taster' songs on her website and they say it all really- pure genius. It really is start to finish an excellent album and to think its her 15 studio album (if you count 'like i said')- it just amazes me how she can keep churning out such good music. A lot of people were disappointed with her previous album 'educated guess' but i assure you this one is in a league of it's own. There isn't a weak track, each song is beautiful. It is easily one of the strongest contenders for her greatest album. Out of her previous albums that I own (I don't own them all) I would say if you like the slower, beautiful songs on 'out of range' then this CD will amaze you because it has a really beautiful feel about it that's similar (although not the same- no Ani CD is the same). So overall, you don't have to be an already diehard fan to appreciate this music. I would say that it's an album you can buy to start your collection of Ani Difranco and then afterwards dipp into her early stuff. If you're already a diehard fan then you are almost guarenteed to enjoy this. She is remarkable, so unbelievably talented that sometimes it's hard to see what the point of other female songwriters is when you've got Ani Difranco. Check out the songs on her website
