5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Reiner Sound!!, 23 Nov 2008
By Scriabinmahler (Cambridge UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Why was music so alive and vivid in the early stereo era? This deeply engaging and gorgeous performance of Scheherazade by Reiner is a living proof that conductors of our generation are unable to feel music in deeper way. The likes of Abbado, Rattle Gergirev are worshiped as great masters nowadays, but compared to the old masters like Reiner, Fürtwängler, Ormandy, Kubelik, Mravinsky, Svetlanov, they are just music notes reproducers to me. Maybe because we place too much emphasis on perfection, we miss out something more important in music making?

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT WORK, GREAT Performance & Great recording, 9 Mar 2006
By Eng PAULO JORGE M NUNES "Paulo Mateus Nunes" (Lisbon, Portugal) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I just love this work! And the performance and sound quality are just great (like the majority of the recordings in this SACD living sterero collection).

Buy it. You won't regreat it.
