Synopsis

From the acclaimed Italian horror master Dario Argento comes an eerie, unforgettable tale of terror. Aura (Dario's daughter, Asia), a suicidal anorexic preparing to jump off a bridge, is rescued by David (Christopher Rydell) an artist whom takes an interest in the beautiful girl, and makes it his personal mission to help her. When Aura's mother (Piper Laurie), a psychic, dies just as she is about to divulge the identity of a vicious psychopath, David decides to help Aura find the killer. The pair work to protect one another while embarking on a dangerous search for a murderer who's been slaughtering innocent people with a homemade decapitation device.

4.0 out of 5 stars synopsis does not match film- , 29 Oct 2006
By John Knight "SplatterGore Fan" (UK, Lowestoft) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Just for the record and to stop any confusion-
The synopsis for this dvd - is not the correct synopsis for the picture of film 'Trauma'- The synopsis describes the Colin Firth movie of same name.
Asia Argento does not appear in movie described. But is in the pic.
Please confirm with seller which - Trauma dvd this is.
Both movie are very entertaining- especially the Colin Firth one which has some clever twists - right up until the end- and you've never seen Colin like this before!
Hope this helped you buy the right movie-

5.0 out of 5 stars Argento is the master, 15 Oct 2008
By Peter J. Hodgson "Grim" (UK) - See all my reviews

I have just bought this film after last viewing it some 6 years ago. Dario Argento has a unique ability to tell a great story with great characters in a real yet somehow nightmarish setting. His camera work is unlike anything else he has his own style which jumps right off the screen as you watch. Asia Argento is fantastic as the traumatic anorexic teen embarking on a journey to uncover the truth behind the sinister killer...the twist is a big one too. I have no idea what the Colin Firth Trauma is or why it carries the same title but im sure I wont bother with it...there is one trauma and this is it. Edgy, terrifying and Surprising, Dario Argento delivers again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Argento's best, but still a good thriller!, 5 Nov 2009
By Neil B ""HI-NRG FAN"" (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
I am a long time fan of the work of Dario Argento. The undisputed king of Italian Horror/Thrillers has had a long and successful career since the 1970's. Fans will recall some of his earlier classics such as SUSPIRIA, INFERNO, FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET & PROFONDO ROSSO. Argento has his own unique style of film making that sets he apart from his peers.
TRAUMA was released back in 1993 to somewhat mixed reviews. This was Argento's first "mainstream" attempt to crack the US market, and this can be seen in the choice of casting and overall style of the film. We get solid performances from seasoned actors such as Frederick Forrest & Piper Laurie. Asia Argento turns in a very convincing role as the disturbed and anorexic Aura. As with most Argento films, the plot is rather sketchy at times, but we do get some amazing "Argento" set pieces such as the fabulous rainstorm attack and the stalking and killing of a nurse in a motel room. In this film, Argento gives us one of his darkest and innovative killer's to date. The murder sequences are handled very well, although the sfx by Tom Savini are mediocre, to say the least. Pino Donnagio provides the music, which sounds very dated and somewhat intrusive. This film would have worked better with a more modern sounding electronic score, similar to those by Goblin and Claudio Simonneti.
