4.0 out of 5 stars A Classic!, 29 April 2005
By A Customer
This film was originally released in 1982, and it wasn't much of a success, but now it's popularity has grown so much that it's been released on DVD. The story follows the two main characters, one from Japan and one from China, as they prepare for a duel to the death. (...)

This is a great film, with good dubbing and great martial art scenes- especially for it's time. The only things that let it down are that it has a lot of wirework effects, which can be really annoying, especially when the fighters begin to jump entire cliffs, and the effects aren't great either, but that can't be helped because obviously the technology was limited when the film was made. Although, I think that if you're one of those people who doesn't mind things like those, You'd enjoy it thoroughly.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Epic, 13 Dec 2006
By tabs289 (London) - See all my reviews
Widely regarded as the greatest martial arts film of all time.
This film spawned countless classics, this film is the prequel to one armed swordsman. Even the musical score has been used in many kung fu flicks. I only gave four stars because this had the potential to be even better than it was. (some totally awesome fighters died very quickly) (who were they, where were they going??) And the ninja's WOW.
you have to see for yourself, if your a kung fu film fan then you must have seen this, if not then do it now.
Oh and was made by couple of newcomers called the shaw brothers.
