Synopsis

After being dumped by a guy she thought was perfect, Lucy (Monica Potter) jumps headlong back into the New York City dating pool. After being set up on a series of blind dates, she meets five eligible bachelors, each with his own strong and weak points. There's the jock (Anthony LaPaglia), the lover man (Gael Garcia Bernal), the surgeon (David Boreanaz), the divorced writer (John Hannah), and the rule-abiding office worker (Henry Thomas). Is one of these five very different men the right one for her, or will she have to start all over again

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, 17 Mar 2006
By Karen Michelle (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
I'm not really sure why this film has such bad reviews. I saw it and completely loved it, and it's been a while since I've seen a film I enjoyed. Then I watched it again with my mum and she loved it!

I liked the process of guessing which of her dates it was that Lucy is getting married to and the constant flipping between each date means that you don't get bored. I found this film funny and fluffy - a lovely girly film that shows that you don't have to find the 'perfect man' - just the right man for you!

2.0 out of 5 stars Wasted Opporturnity, 26 Feb 2005
By A Customer
This had potential to be a really interesting film in the rom/com genre. However, the film was rushed and patchy. Monica Potter was disappointing as was David Boreanz and Henry Thomas. Though, to be fair their characters were rather one dimensional. The 2 stars are for the other male actors to share (John Hannah, Gael Garcia Bernal and Anthony LaPaglia). They all made an effort and showed some class with very limited material.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite with Lucy., 4 May 2005
By Llb Hide "nitalunita" (Guildford England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Whilst setting up a friend with a blind date, Lucy tries to reassure her with her own dating history, a series of blind dates which ultimately lead to Lucy's own impending marriage. The stories of the dates are told in a progression of snippets which can at times be quite confusing as they are often very brief and jump from one to another. Whilst some of the situations which arise are amusing and actors like John Hannah and Gael Garcia Bernal make the most of the limited time available to them, ultimately the movie fails to satisfy as it always moves on just as it engages our interest.A pleasant enough film but it could have been much better.
