1.0 out of 5 stars Too small for old eyes!, 4 Jan 2010

(REAL NAME)
A quite fascinating book but this edition is printed in such small type that I gave up and downloaded the Project Gutenberg edition to read on my Sony Reader. But the story is a must read, unfortunately I fear that American manners have in some ways not improved. Fanny deplores the spitting but until they moved shop the carpet before the foreign exchange desk of American Express in Edinburgh was covered in discarded chewing gum - but of course that might be something we learned from them! Essential reading to get a background of how the USA developed and the reasons for some US attitudes to the world today also their sheer guts and entrepreneurship.Domestic Manners of the Americans (Nonsuch Classics)
