I was led to buy this by the wonderful series of Christmas broadcasts from around Europe that aired on Radio 3 in December of 2008.

I hoped to get a selection of music to listen to whilst sitting in front of a log fire, sipping a sloe gin, and reading a new book, and got exactly what I was after. This is a beautiful, thoughtful selection of baroque music for the Christmas season. A bit like Corelli's "Christmas Concerto" it has a special poignancy at Christmas, but is beautiful music that can be enjoyed for what it is at any time.

It is also a fine gateway into some of the more obscure corners of the baroque musical world.

I recommend it highly.
