This is really very good. It is very dramtic and moving and its musical language is very effective. It is a mixture of tonal romantic-style music with some very modernist effects. Clusters in the choral sections are very noticeable. Penderecki will not be to everyone's taste - as it is very heavy in style - about as far from light hearted as you could possibly get - but if you like Mahler and Shostakovich - have a go at listening to this. If you like Britten's War Requiem or Shostakovich' Symphony No. 13, you will like this. Also, its well performed and good value.
