Sony Ericsson have really gone for it this time. And so they should bearing in mind the cost of this third generation 'mobile phone'! Of course it's more than that with the capability to play high quality Java games, MP3 music files and FM radio, access the internet and take very good quality pictures and video with a built-in 1.3 mega pixel camera. As with most Sony associated products this phone is only let down by the amount of memory that is supplied as standard. This phone needs a 128MB Memory Stick Duo card at least to be able to store enough video, audio and data files to reach the full potential of this amazing gadget. So, if you're tired of carrying around a mobile phone, camera, radio, MP3 Player and personal organiser then the Sony Ericsson S700i is the one thing for you. Buy the biggest additional memory card you can afford and you will learn to love this phone very quickly.

i got the sony ericsson s700i two days ago and believe me, its a wonderful phone. when i first saw this phone in the photos on the net, i felt that it is a bit big in size. but when i saw the box of the phone, i relaized how small it is. the box is the same size to that of the k700i.the phone is almost the same size of the 7610. a little less in length and breadth

Physical aspects :
the phone feels quite solid. so loose parts in the body (i mean like in the some phones, the battery lid shakes) nothing in this one. when i held the s700i in one hand and the 7610 in the other, i found that s700i is much lighter. i think the specs state that the s700i is about 10-15 grams heavier. but i felt like it was 10-15 grams lighter.
There is protective cover at the bottom which covers the battery and
handsfree port. the memory card is also protected by another one like that.

Screen :
The screen is excellent. The 252k color screen is very bright and
sharp.

Software :
The software is much much faster than the K700i. Menus open quickly. Radio starts fast.

Memory:
The phone has about 31mb of internal memory. i have a 128mb card in it and have not tried to put anything higher than that.

Radio :
There are 20 channels that you can set. It doesnt skip any channels when you auto search. The volume is quite loud and can be heard anywhere. The speaker is good for listening to music too.

Mp3 :
The mp3s can be heard louder than the radio. It is quite clear.

Camera :
The best part of the phone is the camera. It is a 1.3 MP camera. There
is a protection for the lens like those in normal cameras. when the protective cover is slid open, the camera automatically starts and shuts down when the cover is closed. the photos appear great on the phone screen and even better on the computer screen. There is light which is of good use when the light conditions are bad. there are different modes in which you can click photos like black and white, negative and so on.
the camera can be used only when the phone is closed ie. keypad in
hidden. when you open the phone, the camera cant be used. when you compare the photos clicked by the 7610 and s700i, you can easily spot that the s700i ones are much much much better.

Reception :
The reception of the phone is excellent. it gets a network in places my 7610 cant. the voice clarity is great.

A few weeks ago when i found out about this phone i couldn't believe all the features they'd put into it. So being the gadget loving guy that i am i used my hard earned money to get it. When i opened the box the sheer feel of style and luxury was enough; bluetooth, infra red, 1.3 MEGA PIXEL CAMERA, large clear screen, small, light and attention to detail. All works perfectly together.When i first tried the phone it was great, the ergonomics of it have been thought out well, and every button and feature is just where you think it is. Now most camera phones hav fairly poor cameras but not the S700, this camera has better features than most digital cameras and it even has a larger TFT screen! Another point is how the phone can connect to just about everything, so those pics can be shared with anyone you want at the click of a nice smooth button. I think everyone should get one, if your not sure try one out in your local shop like me, then when u fall in love with it rush home and buy it from amazon because they really do have one of the fastest and cheapest services going. Brilliant phone, hope amazon keep up the good work :).
